As mentioned on the official FB page, site and by Good Man Curt, there’s been a pause. We’ll of course announce the new dates when we get them as well. Try to be at peace and not panic. If you need a refund on your flight and have any issues receiving it from your airline, let us know via Twitter or you can email us on FB and gmail. Also consider asking for a credit so you can use that money for the reschedule. Things are going to work out…they always do for these fine band members by the Grace. Amen.
I am home. I know there are many questions, but I ask that you respect the privacy of those affected at this time. Much love ❤️ pic.twitter.com/5kWTVJbZDy
One of our Travel Fan Team members had to give up his tickets to this show so we don’t have our usual plethora but this was a really nice set of shares. The fans were incredible and very kind! Their energy was stellar! Enjoy!
We have a lot of great memories of travelling to Las Vegas and hanging out for a few days while we await the band to land and give us one of their epic musical nights. Tears for Fears concerts in Vegas are just EPIC! This one was thankfully indoors unlike some in the past (remember 2012’s heat – even the band asked for one during cooler weather LOL!). Thankfully each time the band has brought amazing, cool energy that creates a breeze of beautiful memories that have stayed with us. This was another one of those outstanding shows that you just can’t forget. There are so many wonderful posts about TFF Vegas 2017! Enjoy these videos from those that shared!

Something about Canada. All of my experiences with Canada have been surreal and incredible. The people are awesome and it’s just a fantastic place to visit, particularly Toronto. It’s no surprise that this very warm, somewhat candid, authentic interview featuring Roland happened to be conducted by Eric Alper of the Eric Alper show…a Toronto based broadcast. Loved every minute of it! I hope one day I can explain why this interview means so much to many of us at this very moment. There is a lot going on right now (life events) that pertain to this particular part of the world and it’s steeped in Tears for Fears goodness and angelic coincidences.
The interview is amazing because it’s just so raw and candid…and in some parts Mr. Alper asks Roland questions that a person like one of us might ask out of nervousness and just pure shock that he’s sitting in front of us. There are times when we just completely fan out and it’s so clear that Mr. Alper fanned out in some parts of this and admits that he had some second thoughts about a few of his questions…isn’t that us after every encounter with this man? We’re always like, “Omg, did that really happen? Wait, was my hair tidy?”
But THE BEST PART is his explanation regarding the tops to tails of the band’s history. He does not mention The Ducks, History of Headaches but he starts with Graduate and goes in respectful detail about the band’s rise…and gently addresses parts that are rather painful for some of us to revisit because we know too much due to some interviews that were published back in the 90s. Those interviews have since been removed and some of us, as ridiculous as it may be, have sworn with our lives that we are NOT EVER going to bring up those years when R&C were separated. This was bone crushing for us and though in hindsight we see the benefit of it, those were some emotionally heart wrenching years. Still some of the band’s greatest songs came out of it. Eric touches on all of this eloquently and with a style that NO OTHER interviewer or archivist has mastered.
Have a listen and savour it… some of us were up as early as 5am on a tour day listening to this and just crying. If you already appreciate Tears for Fears to the nth degree you are going to marry their music after listening to this… it’s unreal and so well-done. Again, no one else has explained the history of this band so well.
Several people made long hauls across the country to go to this show specifically because the venue is just so awesome! Though dedicated strictly to Carrie on Twitter, we appreciate everyone that wrote in and road tripped literally to be there. Some left us photos in our FB inbox. Please send them to our email papasfans at gmail so we can feature you respectfully in this blog with all credit to you and your work. 🙂 FB doesn’t permit photo downloads from the FB inbox.
Big thanks to Carrie for keeping in touch throughout her way to the show!

This show didn’t go as planned for a few fans. Lael will have the full report. There were rumours of people sneaking in and seat hopping in the VIP section. Somehow one fan lost her seat. Not sure how that happened and we’re awaiting the details. But the biggest culprit was the rain…monsoon rain, their words, not ours. Really sad to hear that some fans decided to leave due to the poor weather conditions. It was one of those kind of nights…BUT THE SHOW WAS GOOD!
Kudos to Lael and any others that worked really hard to get tickets for as many as possible for this show. There were lots of tickets still available a week before the concert so hopefully all who wanted to be there did get tickets despite the reported half-hour delay due to the lightning and terrible weather.
For those that had to leave early and miss Tears entirely…let’s have that conversation and work on getting you a better deal in the future and perhaps at a different venue. Outdoor shows in the summer are just scary and unpredictable (and part of the reason MANY on our team sat this one out – we knew it was too risky).
But the band marched on! The reports coming in say the band did great and trudged through, Roland joked about Wellingtons and they did that show with no complaints. Here’s a bit of video and some photos.
We’ll update this once we get the full story on what happened…
Thanks to Lael, the assistants for those that made special journeys to fulfill dreams of seeing the band and so many more! Very sorry about the rain and the tough conditions. Let’s do over!
Tears For Fears Travel Fan Blog Write – Up: Glendale (Phoenix) – Gila River Arena by Lael, TFF Travel Fan Team
Kenya and I arrived just on time, as the gridlock in Phoenix rush hour traffic was much worse than I thought it would be, especially considering we had use of the carpool lane. Opening act Allen Stone started earlier than 7:00 pm, and Tears For Fears took the stage at 7:15 pm. We made it to our seats on the floor just as TFF were taking the stage!! They sounded wonderful, and kept the volume at a nice level, considering the size of this arena.
Jamie Wollam was hitting on all cylinders, and his style of drumming just seems to suit larger venues. Actually, I feel that arenas bring out the optimum performance in TFF as well, due to the sing – along anthem style of their biggest hits. Other hits like “ELAHE” also shimmered in this setting.
I ended up dancing and singing, and remained standing during all of TFF’s set, even though in parts it felt kind of strange, almost a little inappropriate, as most of the audience was sitting down in the middle of their set. I loved the lighting effects that TFF had in place for “Change”, as these effects brought the song’s clean sound and pointed message to life.
The highlight of their concert was Kenya receiving a shout – out from Curt Smith, on the intro to “Shout”. I will never forget the look on Kenya’s face when she realized he had said her name! It took both of us a couple moments to realize it, as Curt Smith said her name in his adorable British accent, and she just did not believe it at first. I then turned to her, “Yeah, he said your name…”
Here are some of the amazing songs featured in Phoenix show, posted by fellow fans that were present. Be sure to like their YT channels and connect!
Gorgeous Valerie and her amazing friends/fellow fans!
The screams at the start are the best part…hear the love!
After the concert, we met up with Valerie Matherne and her cousin, Deanna. We ended up going to this nondescript taco bar at Westgate, and had non – alcoholic drinks, as the kitchen had already closed and it was getting late, with long drives still ahead…

Skipping ahead to the San Diego show while fellow fans finish sending in photos and posting. We haven’t a lot of commentary or detailed tales of how we got there and what hotel we stayed in. This tour has been different and long…very long. So, we’re just getting to the point…the music. This post is not much different. We’re sharing some snippets from the show that were shared by many.
MVP of the night is Yara for suffering through the glitches in the ticket system. The amount of work that goes into getting to a show can be unspeakable at times and so any delays at the finish line can send some people into a flat out meltdown. Kudos to all who kept their cool. Heaven knows we want to be at these shows. It’s not a pastime for us, it’s a pilgrimage so we work double hard to make sure as many of us that spend time chatting together online every single day as we have done since 2004 (and some of us before that) get into the venue. Sometimes Lady Carolyn goes as far as to just hand out tickets. This year she literally grabbed security and said help me find someone to give this ticket to…on the second row center. I mean…come one now. We take this very seriously and we could literally do this for a living and not burn out or tire…I’ve spent 34 years listening to this band and I’m not even 40 yet! This is our yearly reunion so for goodness sake, Ticketmaster, AXS, etc…solutions please to these ticket woes!
High Five to all the fellow fans who came out to San Diego and sang with passion to all the songs. Did anyone else notice the magic on Head over Heels? Was that not the remastered version come to life or what? Wow!!!!!! and that crowd…super awesome!
*Dedicated to Yara and that Sd Guy who shared it all! Thank you both!!
We’re very grateful to all our Travel Fan friends and loved ones that travelled to London to see the band at Hyde Park. This show sold out so fast several barely got tickets. It was quite warm and someone allegedly “took it all off.” We posted several photos early on including a behind the scenes video and a montage of highlights from the night created by one of our fellow fans whose been with the team since 2004. Merci mille fois a chacun!!! London Rocked!!!
That sold out sign was slapped on this event in less than a few days…but that’s to be expected! xoxoxo #TearsForFearsForLife

*These are just some of the cool moments and songs… so much more happens at shows and you really have to be there to see it. It’s something different in every city. The band didn’t seem to be in London very long. Who can blame them, there wasn’t much time to hang out. Big shoutout to Curt’s Brother Mr. S. and neighbour Lady B. who posted really great pictures. While we don’t share family material we did appreciate that sneak peek into a day with their family. How nice! Cheers all! Enjoy the videos and be sure to reach out and be-friend our new friends and contributors!
Thanks for reading!! Be sure to follow @tearsforfears on all platforms! We’re in the home stretch! See you in the newsfeeds! @papasfans
*Before the trip to Brasil, we’ll be making some changes around here, adding on some teams and becoming a unified unit as we hope for a fan conference to come…stick around, it’ll be fun. xo -AA

Here’s a bit from San Antonio…
Something about the acoustics at this venue… wow, really allowed the guys’ voices and the musicians talent to shine through. We don’t have a lot to archive this time around but the few pieces that were shared with the public are exceptional and we’re super grateful for all who got the footage. Amazing!
