Wow, what a sweet and subdued group (and not subdued in a bad way)! TFF Netherland’s energy was suave. You could hear a pin drop when Roland was talking. Now that’s a whole other kind of extreme respect. There was that one guy of whom you could tell by the energy in his voice was about to burst out of his merch and storm the stage for a hug and a brotherly smooch but other than that they were really calm and attentive. There was no talking between songs, no one fainted or fell out. They were just so calm and collected. Goals!
If only some of us could keep our wits about us (moderator included). We literally leap up and down when they come to town like children hearing the ice cream truck…it’s just bananas! LOL! Enjoy this synopsis of the show. We don’t have a lot of video and pictures. Just some shares from fellow fans.
Thank you for sharing your Sunday evening with us Amsterdam- you were warm, wonderful & fuzzy. I wanted to take you all home with me (pass me another brownie will you) ❤️🇳🇱❤️
Hope you enjoyed those shares and made some new friends with the people who shared them! This is the last week of the rescheduled sessions. It’s been years since any of us saw TFF during the colder months. We’re so glad it didn’t snow. The elements were clearly attending as well. We all saw the rain clouds make their way to a few venues as well as the wind. Ever notice the weather during the tour? Sometimes you get all four seasons into one…it’s like “the atmosphere knows they’re near.” The whole regional climate rejoices when the band comes to town. More shares to come! Cheers all!
Our friends from Germany did not disappoint when capturing great moments in the show. The Good Man Mr. Smith was kind enough to snap pictures and share the journey with all followers. We’re so grateful! This is dedicated to Ronnie, Mathias, the Tempodrom staff and the Good Man himself, Curt Smith. We’re super grateful for all that has been provided from the show. To our friends in Germany who were able to somehow get tickets at the last minute, good on you!
Das Warten hat sich gelohnt: Fast 30 Jahre mussten Fans darauf warten. Am Samstagabend spielten Tears for Fears wieder ein Konzert im ausverkauften Tempodrom. ❤
Rough Translation: It was worth the wait: Fans had to wait for it for nearly 30 years. On Saturday night, Tears for Fears played a concert again at the sold out Tempodrome.
Curt took some great photos as did several other members of the band. We’ll focus on Mr. Smith’s snapshots of beautiful Berlin. The city has seen a lot! And to think they had to wait all those years for a show…you know several of them have got to be suffering from Superfanitis…somebody send those fans some extra merch, they’re gonna need it! May this post help them remember the magical moments of the return of TFF to Berlin. Enjoy! Cheers!
Thank you so, so very much! You were great, you really were. My parents both shed a tear.. ❤️ Have a great tour and until the next time! 👋🏻 pic.twitter.com/VJWcBP0v8p
Great photos from fellow fans. Be sure to say hi, leave them a message on their pictures. If you choose to share them be sure to note the photographer.
This tour has been absolutely fantastic! Legendary! Words could never capture the true sentiment and feeling of the entire experience! From Alison Moyet’s incredible support to the very last chord of SHOUT the shows are just impeccable!
We’re getting down the end of the UK leg of the tour. As Alison Moyet continues on we want to remind everyone just how important it is to show up early…not just show time/doors open but 30 minutes prior to allow yourself time to actually get to the venue doors. We can’t all go in at once. Tickets must be verified, people want to get a drink ahead of Alison’s set…there’s a lot to do pre-show as a fan. So give yourself enough time so you don’t miss anything!
We love that Wendy and team took good care of themselves pre-show with a nice stop for breakfast! Delicious! This is one thing we suggest prior to a show…have a good breakfast. Get your fuel in early and then go light for the rest of the day. Nice strong coffee in the morning and lots of water up to 2 hours before show time. This gives your system time to process. After that you can enjoy the show without any interruptions…at least this is what has worked for many of us. There is a method to this. We are very thorough and every step is calculated to make sure we soak up this show like a pastry in a cup of cocoa!
So what else has happened while on tour? Well, somebody started talking during Alison Moyet’s set and that turned into the talker getting slapped to put it lightly (allegedly) early on in the tour. Somebody laughed…and it’s not funny but who talks at a show? We certainly don’t support violence…nor do we support talking during a show. We note everything! More to come…
*This post is dedicated to Gwen who has just gone above and beyond for SO MANY fans this tour. We envision a future fun photo with she and Mr. Orzabal. Picture them in a big laugh together post-show. We can see it! Thank you, Gwen!! You’re forever a hero!
Cutie Pies in the Crowd!
The reception for Alison Moyet throughout the tour has been terrific as expected! She’s our queen and we love her! She owns that stage! We’re going to miss her when this tour ends…and several of us are just hoping this is not the end of the Moyet x TFF connection. WE WANT MORE!! Big thanks to Gwen for supplying all the photos and contributions!
And she’s so frikkin nice!! Don’t take our word for it…look at this!
Always a fabulous time seeing @AlisonMoyet live, but what has really made my night, is that she has liked every single one of my tweets and replies about tonight’s show. Every. Single. One. 1/2
The Footy?! We’re going to be asking about this a lot… #Tease
“I don’t know how it’s possible but you all get better with each show! That was #6 of this tour for me tonight, just incredible. Thank you for not laughing ‘too’ hard at us singing and dancing along 😜🌻@tearsforfears @charltonpettus @jameswollam See you at the next one!” – Superfan Gwen C.
This is one for the books! We will not ever forget this tour! We have certainly LIVED!! Totally steeped in gratitude right now for this amazing music and wonderful experience for so many in the UK! – TFF Travel Fan Team #Tour2019
Tonight’s bonus is this review: Good, bad? Thoughts? We are known to let a writer have it every now and again if they dare focus on superficial things… tell us your thoughts on this review:
This post is dedicated to Andy B – loyal fan who waited nearly 35 years to see the band and Shaun Smith, a great world traveller who also happens to be the Good Man’s brother! We’re so happy for their contributions tonight to the travel fan site, allowing us to share their experience with the world!
And we do mean the world! As of today, this site has seen almost 20,000 visits per year since 2014. We joined this labour of love in 2004 and started going live publically in 2011 with the travel portion on this platform. Big thanks to all who contribute and share. This is all about featuring the absolutely fantastic moments of fans on tour and the great moments with the band…and there are plenty. Let’s dive into tonight’s show.
@curtsmith, you tweeted me happy birthday on my 15th, now I’m 21 and FINALLY got to see you live tonight, thank you and @rolandtff for the tunes, see you at Blenheim Palace… Play The Working Hour and I might just die 🙇♀️ #TearsForFears @tearsforfears – Maggie
@curtsmith, you tweeted me happy birthday on my 15th, now I'm 21 and FINALLY got to see you live tonight, thank you and @rolandtff for the tunes, see you at Blenheim Palace… Play The Working Hour and I might just die 🙇♀️ #TearsForFears@tearsforfears
Good Man Mr. Smith always tweets out his thank you! We love this!
“Thank you Bournemouth you warm & wonderful people. Now I understand why Eddie Howe likes it here 😍” -Curt Smith
Our bonus tonight is from Cindy P. She shares the Liverpool review which is thankfully focused on their music! The previous writers who seemed to be aching for bromance with Curt and Roland as if the band’s show was a Tinder swipe are completely absent here! We rejoice! Read Here
We’ll add more videos as they are received! Thank you for reading, sharing and enjoying! See you at the show!
-Tears for Fears Travel Fan Team
“I have had the unbelievable opportunity to play some amazing shows and places in my career, but tonight definitely is one of the highlights of my journey…. O2 Arena, London, England.” – Jamie Wollam (aka Drummer Genius)
Tweet of the day was this beauty from ‘All on the Board’
This was a really big deal. The O2 sold out! Capacity is close to 20,000. There was literally no extra space in this entire venue – every seat was purchased and or occupied. Tonight solidified the fact that Tears for Fears are indeed one of the top bands of all times. Their work and ability is timeless. Their message eternal!
Get a better scope of the space with Kadelbach’s video.
One of our favourite moments during any show is the proximity of Curt and Roland. Don’t ask us why. It’s something about these two angelic beings getting close together that excites us on a whole other level! Big thanks to Mr. Ibarra for this share!
If you can’t wait until you get to a show then consider buying early from the merch store online http://www.tearsforfears.com. Items are arriving pretty quick.
Roland first began handing the microphone down into the audience in 2011 at the Wiltern. He’s continued the tradition quite kindly. Here he is in action!
We try to add in a bit of a bonus including reviews. Here’s one from ES Insider featuring Roland’s thoughts on touring.
Let’s get straight to the point…they played Suffer the Children. Now, a few nights ago we posted a video from the In My Minds Eye treasure box. That video is a full show of The Hurting plus two songs from SFTBC. And no one in YEARS has heard that song live…until today. The internet lit up!
And MVP Darren H got an audio recording of it. He wanted badly to make sure he didn’t break the rules so he didn’t hold his phone up. Mad respect for this!
Gwen got a copy as well. Tilt your head so you can see it…
This post is dedicated to Andrew W. He has been loyal and he shows up! Here he is with Drummer Genius Jamie Wollam 🙂
Big thanks to all the Tears for Fears Travel Fans who are modestly travelling alongside the band, zipping in and out of shows. Some are working and still finding a way to make it to shows. You are troopers! Much love to you from your fellow fans! Reach out if you need anything! We’re on standby.
This post is dedicated to Tamara who flew all the way from Minnesota to Europe to follow the show. Tamara has been through a lot in her life. Like many, she has been able to find healing and energy in the music of Curt, Roland and team. Tamara you are appreciated and loved! Please remember that. What you did for fans, capturing the moments and experience then sharing it online was the real deal! You are awesome (and super pretty – look at that face)! We’re excited to have learned about Evan being in company as well.
From the eyes of our dear Gwen, she provided a lot of photos of the venue. Note how much larger this one is than the night before. It was soon just as packed.
Our dear lady Alison Moyet opened the show and we couldn’t be more pleased! We love her and wish she was a permanent member of the band. She will forever be a part of the Tears for Fears experience. Be sure to follow her on Twitter @alisonmoyet
How about this treasure from the Stone Forums. They claim they will be recording the entire show, every show until the tour ends! What a gift! You can barely hear Curt on EWTRTW because the crowd is singing so strongly it’s almost overpowering. Enjoy while it lasts because we don’t know if they’ll get flagged for posting this or not. *For the record, that’s not Andye singing Falling Down. She’s learned to pipe down at the concerts with all the singing. We don’t know this rogue singer but it was super cool to hear someone else enjoy it as much as we do!
It’s hard to discuss these shows right now because they are so fresh and the excitement is intense. A few of us are simply speechless and trying come down from cloud 9. It takes a while. Returning to earth after a Tears for Fears show is like…well, imagine being somewhere between heaven space and heaven. It’s mindblowing! An Irish Times writer seems to have gotten her bearings and quickly published this piece about the show. It is one of our favourites thus far.
“Pure perfection tonight. So happy they included ‘Falling Down’ and ‘Woman in chains’ tonight. Ro’s voice sounds incredible, as good as ever & you could tell he was enjoying himself again tonight, pulling faces and huge smiles for everyone. 2 down, 10 to go…” – Gwen, TFF Travel Fan about the Dublin show
If you are a die-hard soldier of sound you know we had some scares at the start of the year. Like a hot cup of coffee filled to the brim, we’ve been walking slowly and carefully hoping the cup didn’t run over and burn us all in some form or fashion. We were really scared out of our wits with so much legalese and uncertainty with the show reschedule and journalists on the outside picking up bits and pieces of our online conversations and then writing about what they “think” is going on with the band and fans. We’re so glad to have moved on from that to be present in the presence of Tears for Fears – their concerts wash away all pains, all negative emotion. It’s like being lifted to a whole other realm and completely healed. May the Universe bless the band and all of us on the road and in the air this year!
We hope this basic info will provide you with reasonable hotel options during your fan travel and stays. There are also links to the venue so you can explore and be ready for each show. Remember to take care of your travel documents such as passport and passport card. Keep your passport card with you at all times. If anything happens to your passport, you have the card and it can help you obtain a replacement quicker. Total cost for new passport and passport card is $130 USD. A short list of FAQs are below. You can click through the links to obtain hotel info. Feel free to email us throughout the tour if you have any issues as you travel. We’re happy to help guide you logistically.
Full schedule is on http://www.tearsforfears.com but this is here for useful logistics for fellow fans. For shows that are outdoors, please prepare accordingly and check the rain policy. Also, be sure to get the insurance in case of unforeseen emergencies.
*Killarney did happen on the 30th of Jan. Click here for the show synopsis.
May 3, 2019 Shaky Knees Music Festival Atlanta, Georgia Tickets Hotel *Tentative Meetup at a private clubhouse
*If you don’t want to buy the 3-day pass, single tickets usually go on sale closer to the event (update – the single tickets are now on sale as of Jan 21st). Be sure to buy only for the 3rd of May. TFF will perform on that day only. The 3-day pass is not transferable. It’s a wristband.

SunFest in West Palm Beach (Florida) – *This show was cancelled shortly before Tears for Fears were to be on stage. A LOT OF FANS FLEW IN FOR THIS!! We’re going to look into what refund options are available to all fans. Several on Twitter and FB have noted how they came JUST for Tears for Fears. WPTV reported on it.
Some early notes for Tears for Fears Travel Fans coming in from the states…
By now, you know, you need a passport. We are recommending flying Delta or British Airways to get to the U.K. and, once there, use the series of trains and ground transportation to get to the hotel and venue. If you have questions, we’ve got of TONS of fans who are on standby willing to assist with how to get from point A to point B. For this tour, we will be choosing hotels that are a little different from our norm in order to cut down the cost (though some are far from a steal). Remember, buy your pre-sale tickets first, let everything else fall into place.
*picture: First Direct Leeds Arena concert venue seating
This venue offers hospitality experiences and since we have a few days between shows this is a perfect time to think about something nice prior to the concert (not after).
SEC Armadillo has a big gap between the stage and the front row but really nice! Room for dancing!
POSTPONED 30 April SEC Armadillo – Tickets – Hotel: Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow Seating Chart
*Some of the Travel Fan team members have lots of friends in Glasgow and with this added show, it might be nice to just stay on a few days – if you do it’s understandable. Great opportunity to do some real meeting up and hanging out. If you can’t do the first two shows, try to do this one!
POSTPONED 4 May – Motorpoint Arena Cardiff – This venue is 30 minutes from the airport. Hotel suggestion is: The Big Sleep Hotel prices are as low as 57 GBP a night and this hotel just underwent a renovation.
*You have time to relax a little for this show with that one day in between so be sure to use the suggested hotel. Save the cheap ones for the nights you’re not really staying long in that particular city. This is more about seeing the band and hanging out with fellow fans vs. site seeing for us. Now, about those untiered floor blocks…whaaat? Gracious me!
POSTPONED 7 May – SEC Armadillo – Tickets – Hotel: Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow
This is the original show that was planned, a new one was added above due to demand. Remember – *Don’t bring a large bag to this venue. Try to leave large purses, etc. at home for this show.
POSTPONED 8 May – Echo Arena in Liverpool – Tickets – Seating Chart – Hotel: You’re spoiled for choice – from furnished flats that are within walking distance to one with The Beatles theme…you already know which one we’re gonna pick! You get a little time here so make it count!
10 May – The O2 – Tickets – Seating Chart – Hotel: Intercontinental The02
*That venue link takes you to their VIP experience. This is different from buying a premium seat VIP ticket to see TFF. Our idea of premium seating is on the stage or in front of it…preferably the aforementioned. LOL! O2’s venue option provides extra comfort around “a” show. This is a great pre-game/pre-show thought that we will explore. We certainly don’t plan to sit in their VIP suite to watch R&C on a screen. But it would be nice to do something in advance or afterwards.
POSTPONED 11 May – Bournemouth BIC Windsor – Tickets – Seating Chart– Hotel -this hotel isn’t that close to the venue as others but it’s really nice. It’s also a bit less expensive than the closer options which include Park Central and a the Bournemouth Marriott.
VIP options – just read through them all and see if you want to do something fun pre-show. Great time to meetup with fans. Pick one, let us know which is your favourite.
POSTPONED 12 MayBrighton Centre – Tickets – Seating Chart– Hotel
*Sometimes we say, “Hey, if you’re gonna go…go all out” and you certainly will with our hotel choice. It’s over $200 a night USD but worth it. If by this time you’re broke from buying enough merch to wear a different TFF t-shirt each day of the month there’s a Travelodge nearby as well.
Airfare hasn’t really dropped but if you book now you can save a couple of hundred dollars on Delta. If you’re in Europe already I’d say fly Air Italia or Lufthansa to all of these locations. If you’re flying Air France, let us know because we’re just curious about the service. There are also a number of trains that will help you get from point A to point B but we’re going to stick with planes because it’s just a little faster and if you miss something you can usually get the next flight to the following concert location within an hour. With shows this close together we can’t take any chances.
What to expect next year – a good, powerful set list! We’re hoping Michael Wainwright will stick with the band as well for the majority of 2018. He is very enjoyable and friendly. He’s known to come out and speak to fans as he is a very personable person. We consider him to be a member of Tears for Fears as much as many others before him. MW of whom you may see us refer to as Nice Guy Mike (NGM) was with the band prior to Carina Round in case some of you who are just now getting back on the fan train didn’t know. He’s real cool and we’re looking forward to more. We’re also hoping Mr. Moyer gets a good spin with the band so we can enjoy his marvelous sax on The Working Hour.
Meet & Greets + Fan Conferences – no word yet…still on the EMFH RSVP for that. So we’ll see…
Stick around, more news to come in this space…
Thanks for reading,
