Great Night in Glasgow!

Soooo much love in that venue tonight! Ohhhmigaah! Enjoy highlights from the show in Glasgow!

And loyal fan and continued supporter, Stuart P, confirms that Lady Moyet is going strong! The reviews and love for her continue to flow! And the venues continue to fill up. Here’s his photo pre-show.

Then there was Curt’s view… NICE!

Further down the way were these two lovely people!

MVP Gwen, the Tears for Fears tour resident, took this incredible picture of Curt. Isn’t it fantastic?

For a few of us the tour is coming to a pause until May. Gwen is counting down her final shows for 2019. It is a very hard thing to deal with and often times we have to find time to regroup. The amount of euphoric fun isn’t something you can put into words. So stepping off that tour and getting back into the real world is like being dropped into the Twilight Zone. You wonder how on earth you ever dealt with your day to day prior to the majestic experience. You find yourself craving… “more tour!”

Ms. Robinson shared this earlier today!

We here you Gwen…we here you! #FsnSolidarity #UntilIDrown

Tears for Fears Basking in the Love of Bournemouth

This post is dedicated to Andy B – loyal fan who waited nearly 35 years to see the band and Shaun Smith, a great world traveller who also happens to be the Good Man’s brother! We’re so happy for their contributions tonight to the travel fan site, allowing us to share their experience with the world!

And we do mean the world! As of today, this site has seen almost 20,000 visits per year since 2014. We joined this labour of love in 2004 and started going live publically in 2011 with the travel portion on this platform. Big thanks to all who contribute and share. This is all about featuring the absolutely fantastic moments of fans on tour and the great moments with the band…and there are plenty. Let’s dive into tonight’s show.

Andy had the time of his life!

Check out that full venue! Amazing! So much support!

Cool Fan Milestones & Fun Moments

@curtsmith, you tweeted me happy birthday on my 15th, now I’m 21 and FINALLY got to see you live tonight, thank you and @rolandtff for the tunes, see you at Blenheim Palace… Play The Working Hour and I might just die 🙇‍♀️ #TearsForFears @tearsforfears – Maggie

Good Man Mr. Smith always tweets out his thank you! We love this!

“Thank you Bournemouth you warm & wonderful people. Now I understand why Eddie Howe likes it here 😍” -Curt Smith

Our bonus tonight is from Cindy P. She shares the Liverpool review which is thankfully focused on their music! The previous writers who seemed to be aching for bromance with Curt and Roland as if the band’s show was a Tinder swipe are completely absent here! We rejoice! Read Here

We’ll add more videos as they are received! Thank you for reading, sharing and enjoying! See you at the show!

TFF – Absolutely Awesome in the O2

“I have had the unbelievable opportunity to play some amazing shows and places in my career, but tonight definitely is one of the highlights of my journey…. O2 Arena, London, England.” – Jamie Wollam (aka Drummer Genius)

Tweet of the day was this beauty from ‘All on the Board’

from all on the board

This was a really big deal. The O2 sold out! Capacity is close to 20,000. There was literally no extra space in this entire venue – every seat was purchased and or occupied. Tonight solidified the fact that Tears for Fears are indeed one of the top bands of all times. Their work and ability is timeless. Their message eternal!

Lady Alison Moyet was crystal clear and amazing as always! Check out this video from Cheryl Cision!

One of our favourite moments during any show is the proximity of Curt and Roland. Don’t ask us why. It’s something about these two angelic beings getting close together that excites us on a whole other level! Big thanks to Mr. Ibarra for this share!

If you can’t wait until you get to a show then consider buying early from the merch store online http://www.tearsforfears.com. Items are arriving pretty quick.

Curt got a cool salute from fans. Check out this quick sing-a-long and hello to his family from his ‘fan family.’

Roland first began handing the microphone down into the audience in 2011 at the Wiltern. He’s continued the tradition quite kindly. Here he is in action!

TFF’s Big Surprise in Brighton

Let’s get straight to the point…they played Suffer the Children. Now, a few nights ago we posted a video from the In My Minds Eye treasure box. That video is a full show of The Hurting plus two songs from SFTBC. And no one in YEARS has heard that song live…until today. The internet lit up!

And MVP Darren H got an audio recording of it. He wanted badly to make sure he didn’t break the rules so he didn’t hold his phone up. Mad respect for this!

Gwen got a copy as well. Tilt your head so you can see it…

This post is dedicated to Andrew W. He has been loyal and he shows up! Here he is with Drummer Genius Jamie Wollam 🙂

Fans having fun!

And wow, thanks Mr. Reardon!

Big thanks to all the Tears for Fears Travel Fans who are modestly travelling alongside the band, zipping in and out of shows. Some are working and still finding a way to make it to shows. You are troopers! Much love to you from your fellow fans! Reach out if you need anything! We’re on standby.

TFF – Great Crowd Chemistry in Cardiff!

This post is dedicated to Shaun Smith – Curt’s brother. He’s super kind and very nice! That’s also his photo above. He took that great photo during the show and permitted us to use it. We’re very grateful. He also recorded Shout for us! Tilt your head a little. It’s the best part of the song. We’ve embedded it from his page. An edited version in horizontal is below that.
And here’s Curt Smith looking out in the audience. Isn’t this the cutest?

There were some really great moments in the show today. Both Roland and Curt gave great shoutouts. From Roland sending out a loving salute to his family and house manager to Curt showing some love for North Carolina fans who came all the way to Cardiff…the love was flowing making for a very special and intimate night. You can’t beat that!

Below are some of the fun moments fellow fans and friends captured. Enjoy – more to come as we fill each synopsis with great moments from the tour and travels.

Thank you Radisson! Taking good care of fans!

She’s an honourary member of the band practically at this point.

Tears for Fears – 1st Show of 2019 in Killarney

There’s a space between your conscious, subconscious…that part of you that undergoes the out of body experience. For those that attend Tears for Fears concerts, it’s the moment where the show open begins. It’s begun with Lorde, previous to that was Dance of the Knights by the genius Tchaikovsky. But let’s back up just a bit. There’s also the walking into the venue. It feels just like the steps one imagines the astronauts take as they head to the ship. You’re walking and waving, excited as all get out. You’re about to experience something greater than most humans get to partake of in a lifetime. You feel blessed, special and carry a sense of “is this really happening?” Then, the aforementioned takes place. The rocket has launched, you are about to be propelled into an entirely different state of mind, state of being…your world is literally being rocked. Then they appear…Jamie heads to the drums, Doug Petty goes to the keys, Carina Round far right mic, Curt and Roland…and by this time the crowd is SO LOUD. Somebody starts crying, men and women are screaming as if their bride or groom has walked into the room on their wedding day or in some cases as if it’s the winning goal of the world cup. Children’s chins on are the floor because they’ve never seen their parents SO excited since they were born. It’s completely EUPHORIC! People are going insane!

And here’s why. Please enjoy the show synopsis from Killarney, Ireland. This post is dedicated to Gwen, who has dedicated her life this year to following the band for 12 shows. She was gracious enough to capture this show in it’s entirety LIVE for everyone to view in real time – making it possible for anyone who didn’t get a chance to travel to experience the “Tears for Fears Experience.” There’s no other way to really describe it. It’s an experience!

“My entire body feels like it’s being lifted up into another realm. It’s like your soul is floating and you know you may or may not be alive…because it feels too good to be true. There have been times I shake my head during the concerts as if something is hurting me because for a moment, I can’t tell if I’m daydreaming this as the little kid hoping one day I’ll get to see them. Or am I really back in the mid 90s as the pre-teen who was walking around venues where they once played, fasting and chanting for their reconnect. Or is this one of the many moments where I’m remember being at one of their shows? Then I realise it’s all REAL. That’s them, there they are and here I am. It’s a really WILD feeling to see your deepest Tears for Fears wishes and visions come to life over and over again. I encourage everyone to go to a show just once and experience the euphoria. It will blow your mind! You will never be the same! And you’ll want to do this again and again. The shows get better and better every year…which means they are immaculate!” -Andye, TFF Travel Fan Team

“Today is one of the best days of my life so far!” – Gwen, TFF Travel Fan Team

The Stone Forums captured the show as well – here’s EWTRTW in an very beautiful TFF blue…

Badman’s Song

SHOUT!!

It couldn’t have been that perfect, could it? Oh yes…yes it was. So much so that Patrick O Shea was furious when concert goers (note we didn’t say fans in this case) arrived late to the perfection. “A great show, very enjoyable, however the constant procession in and out to the bar was ridiculous, if you want to see Tears for Fears live, go to their concert, if you want to drink go to the pub, also the amount of people who arrived in late at the start of the concert, from the bar was very insulting to the band. Tears for Fears created a great atmosphere, you did not need to drink as well.”

We hear you Patrick. Don’t arrive late if you can help it. You miss the best parts. The chatter, the conversations and all that the band is known to delight their audiences with at each show. Every concert is as intricate as a snowflake. It’s unique and even more beautiful than the last. You want to soak it all in. Speaking of soaked. It began to rain and the weather was not so cool following this show. As we lead into details on Dublin. Tamara, Gwen and crew literally stood in line for HOURS in the cold, wet air of Dublin to make sure they had front row. That’s part of the travel experience when there’s a GA option at a show. We’re not fans of Gen Am but when it’s available it means we’re going to be close to the band. So we get up at the crack of dawn and stand at the venue so we can soak up all their energy during the show. And that’s exactly what they did! Be sure to read about it here.

Thanks so much for taking a moment to recap the show with us and our fellow team members, fans and friends! Subscribe and share with fellow fans you know. Get yourself some tickets and head out to a show!

TFF – Loved in Dublin

This post is dedicated to Tamara who flew all the way from Minnesota to Europe to follow the show. Tamara has been through a lot in her life. Like many, she has been able to find healing and energy in the music of Curt, Roland and team. Tamara you are appreciated and loved! Please remember that. What you did for fans, capturing the moments and experience then sharing it online was the real deal! You are awesome (and super pretty – look at that face)! We’re excited to have learned about Evan being in company as well.

From the eyes of our dear Gwen, she provided a lot of photos of the venue. Note how much larger this one is than the night before. It was soon just as packed.

Tamara got a view of the packed house.

crowd from Dublin

Here’s their proximity to the stage.

Our dear lady Alison Moyet opened the show and we couldn’t be more pleased! We love her and wish she was a permanent member of the band. She will forever be a part of the Tears for Fears experience. Be sure to follow her on Twitter @alisonmoyet

How about this treasure from the Stone Forums. They claim they will be recording the entire show, every show until the tour ends! What a gift! You can barely hear Curt on EWTRTW because the crowd is singing so strongly it’s almost overpowering. Enjoy while it lasts because we don’t know if they’ll get flagged for posting this or not. *For the record, that’s not Andye singing Falling Down. She’s learned to pipe down at the concerts with all the singing. We don’t know this rogue singer but it was super cool to hear someone else enjoy it as much as we do!

It’s hard to discuss these shows right now because they are so fresh and the excitement is intense. A few of us are simply speechless and trying come down from cloud 9. It takes a while. Returning to earth after a Tears for Fears show is like…well, imagine being somewhere between heaven space and heaven. It’s mindblowing! An Irish Times writer seems to have gotten her bearings and quickly published this piece about the show. It is one of our favourites thus far.

Read the article in full here: https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/music/tears-for-fears-review-sad-bangers-from-a-brilliantly-gloomy-band-1.3778833

“Pure perfection tonight. So happy they included ‘Falling Down’ and ‘Woman in chains’ tonight. Ro’s voice sounds incredible, as good as ever & you could tell he was enjoying himself again tonight, pulling faces and huge smiles for everyone. 2 down, 10 to go…” – Gwen, TFF Travel Fan about the Dublin show

If you are a die-hard soldier of sound you know we had some scares at the start of the year. Like a hot cup of coffee filled to the brim, we’ve been walking slowly and carefully hoping the cup didn’t run over and burn us all in some form or fashion. We were really scared out of our wits with so much legalese and uncertainty with the show reschedule and journalists on the outside picking up bits and pieces of our online conversations and then writing about what they “think” is going on with the band and fans. We’re so glad to have moved on from that to be present in the presence of Tears for Fears – their concerts wash away all pains, all negative emotion. It’s like being lifted to a whole other realm and completely healed. May the Universe bless the band and all of us on the road and in the air this year!

Thanks for reading,
Cheers!

Genius’ Work – Deep Dive into Head Over Heels

Tears for Fears is a clean band. They don’t make unsavoury news or cause problems that make anyone wish they had never followed, or invested emotionally or otherwise in their work, music and events. Since Friday morning, numerous conversations have been “floating” about Tears for Fears and the future of all that encompasses them – from band members to fan life. This occurred after our moderator wished Curt a happy rehearsal. While “enough” veered off in an unsavoury direction of assumption and panic from his response which made us aware that he wasn’t present, a gargantuan number of fans have rerouted by focusing on how the band has healed them personally. That’s what’s so great about this band and the fans! Something odd might happen from time to time – nothing dangerous or worthy of tabloids – but no matter what, we’re always brought back to the band’s genius work. It’s all genius work. Every single song is a piece of genius work. Few will argue with us on that.

Rick Beato, who hosts the show “What Makes This Song Great?” took some time to explore and highlight the genius of “Head Over Heels.” We fans lovingly call the song HOH (literally saying the letters) for short when writing about it and now we’ve come to say it while chatting amongst ourselves the same way we call TFF’s 2004 hit Everybody Loves a Happy Ending “ELAHE” ( but in this case ‘eh-LAH-hee’). HOH is one of those songs that will make your knees buckle. As soon as you hear the first chord (or for some ‘that first note’) YOU KNOW what it is. Then there’s the build in the song that often involuntarily prompts fans worldwide to begin playing air drums and keyboard before bursting into first verse with whatever item in your hand you have – be it a hairbrush as you stand at the mirror getting ready for work or a mobile phone – as the microphone.

The way in which Mr. Beato highlights the genius of this song is unreal and simply spectacular. It’s “genius” in itself. Please take a moment to watch it and bask in the beauty of the spectacular way in which this song is constructed. Let this song heal you! Use it right now to think of amazing moments for which you are truly grateful this band (Curt, Roland and team) exist. Think of the alumni (Nicky, Oleta, Manny, Mr. William, and many other contributors) and current members (Charlton, Jamie, Doug, Carina) that help keep this healing alive. Feel the gratitude, put your intent toward the continuation of the band and their contributions to music and deep thought. Their work is worth twice their combined weight in gold! Go on…bask!

Tears for Fears at Shaky Knees Festival – Atlanta, Georgia

Update – We hope everyone is having a good time in ATL. The hotel is super nice. Big thanks to Michael Roland Magno for coming to the bar last night and spending some time with us after his show! Tears for Fears are scheduled to go on around 8:25p Eastern Standard Time tonight at the Piedmont- Ford Sponsored stage. The show’s audio will be live-streamed according to Shaky Knees. Most of the fans we spoke to plan to be in VIP. So, we’re focusing on that experience. Be sure to read this before you go. If you’re doing the Platinum experience – reach out to Andye on Twitter @andyeisthenews because she has the day’s schedule created by Shaky Knees including the lunch and dinner info plus the notes on the private performance by Liz Phair – all of which is in the festival email that should have reached you.

There will be fast track entrances for VIP Platinum. The merch table is not far from the Ford Sponsored Stage. Getting inside might be an ordeal so please just be patient and give yourself enough time to get there. If you’re local to Atlanta, please do not try to go to work today if you can avoid it. Just come over and hang out!! Don’t wait til the last minute and try to run over!

sk19-publicmap422-cda6a470-768x682

…and yes, this time the band is playing a venue in the heart of Atlanta. It’s not Duluth this time, it’s Atlanta. Shaky Knees Music Festival is a pretty big deal in ATL. Atlanta is a festival city, it’s always on and poppin’ so expect some intense crowds. Get there early and read all the fine print. The wristbands can’t be transferred. It’s 3 days long but one-day tickets are available. All hotels will be booked solid and rates will be high so get in now! Can’t stress this enough, if you are flying in, you MUST book your hotel in advance. You, of course, do not have to pay for it right now, you just need to hold your space by not selecting advance payment. The reservation now will lock in your rate. As you get closer to the festival date, these rates may not be as friendly.

Our suggested hotel is the Hyatt Regency Centric Midtown. This hotel is one of the closest 4-star hotels. Others are Marriott, Hyatt Regency and The W as well. Current price is around $200 a night at the Hyatt Centric for festival dates. That may change if you wait and book at a later date. The park is the equivalent of Central Park in New York, only much much smaller…but not that small.

No fancy cute clothes, we suggested full on soldiers of sound Doc Martens, Curt Smith Tour Couture, super snazzy t-shirt with some comfy jeans and a secure bag within regulation of the festivals’ bag laws (oh yeah, there are bag laws) and enough money to enjoy the deliciousness that is ATL. We have some serious restaurants here. We’re saying “we” because this is where MANY serious long time Tears fans live. We have what we like to call the Travel Fan HQA near the second place that Tears played back in 2010 (Chastain Amphitheatre, now State Bank Chastain Amphitheatre). The second is in Los Angeles. The mothership HQ is in Bath …at Kath’s house. But we digress…

Let’s get down to cash chat… Tickets
Regular Gen Am started out around $179+tax, fees, etc. VIP Tier one is now $595, tier 2 is $1600+. Is it worth it? If you’re flying in and going for just one day, just get the general admission. If you plan to stay all three days and you’re not concerned about front row or being close to the stage, get the general admission. If you can’t handle crowds and you need a seat, you may want to invest in the Tiers that the festival provides. (Andye currently has one extra VIP ticket available for less than market rate – it’s Tier 1 and can be mailed to you in April). Connect with us on the Travel Fan site or tweet her at @andyeisthenews to get the details (and they are swweeeeet deets!)

Meet and Greet – we had a venue next to the festival itself already on standby, a catering crew, ridiculously tight security booked, etc. to name a few things. Henceforth, a plan was in place just in case the band/band member(s) could actually be present. But all bookings for such things seem tough given their tight schedule. They’ll be in Florida shortly after the show most likely. Meet and greets at the venue itself with the band are not orchestrated by us unless requested by higher authorities. For travel fan meetups, carpools and general ATL questions, send us an email via Facebook. You will get a response. *Update, if you’re in Tier1 or Tier2 there will be fans walking around.

As a whole, Atlanta festivals are pretty clean. This isn’t going to be a repeat of Woodstock 2 with mud pits from the rain, etc. Kids will be there. A ton of security will be there. Most of this area is most likely under heavy surveillance like downtown ATL where there are cameras everywhere. It’s super hard to get away with anything in this town. It’s family friendly and there are lots of rules so be sure to read the fine print as mentioned. Study the map so you can better understand where to pick up your wristband. Please see this map:

Shakys_VIP_Platinum Map

If you want to make a long holiday of this, please reach out to us on Facebook and we’ll happily give you the best advice we have on ATL, this is one city we know extremely well. We’ll eventually do a video to go over everything, perhaps an FB Live or Periscope. Again, do not delay the hotel bookings if you’re flying in. We usually say get the ticket first and let everything else fall into place. However, the hotel booking, in this case, may be more important than the ticket just because this is a conference and festival city, hotels are always booked in May. Book now to avoid delays!

Summary:
Shaky Knees Festival Friday Night features Tears for Fears
Stage Time: (be there by 7:45pm Eastern please) – go to the Piedmont Stage (sponsored by Ford)
Admission: $179-$1600 plus taxes and fees (Remember Andye has an extra VIP ticket for less than the full cost – she’d prefer a true fellow fan to get it).
Hotel Suggestion: Hyatt Centric Midtown $200 a night average, 4 star hotel near venue
Airfare: Fly with Delta, the metro/subway/train will take you straight to the hotels that are next to the venue. But we suggest Uber or a car service.
Food: There are over 450 restaurants in Atlanta alone, 50% of them are in this area. You will not starve. Use Yelp to help you pick the cuisine you love the most. Or use the Postmates app and have it delivered to you. The hotel has pretty good food too, slightly pricey but worth it.

FAQs
Will there be a TFF merch table? – There is a section where you can buy merch. It is not within the VIP tent.
Is this the only show in the USA 2019? – No, they’ll be in Florida on the 5th at Sun Fest
Will we get to hear the new tracks at the show? – TBD
How many songs will be played? – TBD
