Wineries and gardens…hmm…there’s a theme here.Tears for Fears will perform at Idaho Botanical Garden in Boise this month. This is part of the Outlaw Field Summer Concert Series produced by CMoore Live+. There are a number of country music icons and 80s stars on this summer’s series line-up (Cyndi Lauper playes the day before TFF, if that’s not cool then we don’t know what is).
Tickets:
There are tickets available but the VIP Canopy is sold out. You can still get the VIP table for 6 for $700. Gen Am is $55. Purchase Tickets:
*Their site is pretty self sufficient. No loopholes to jump through. They straight up show you how membership has its privileges. If you didn’t get in on these deals this time around, consider a membership for future because you know TFF are known to play the same venues at times. It’s a great oppty to be ready for future shows. And kids under 2 years of age are free!! So if you have one of the many little TFF fans, you’re in luck. This is the show to which to go.
You can also buy through Ticketmaster but you know how we roll, we like to buy from the venue. The closer to the gold you can get the better. Buy from those in the know. Even their site talks about third party ticket options so …you know…
Venue address: 2355 Old Penitentiary Rd, Boise Idaho 83712 (phone – 208 343 8649)
There is parking but it’s limited. They suggest Uber or the shuttle. All of this is on their site. So take a moment to read it thoroughly. Don’t be the person running late through the gate during EWTRTW…just no. Don’t! Call and make sure the shuttle is running that day. We as travel fans suggest Uber because it’s easy and guaranteed.
Accommodations:
The venue and travel fan team suggest Springhill Suites by Marriott. Looking at about $220 a night after taxes.
Airfare – You’re looking at most $400 round trip right now on higher priced carriers. Given this late in the game, that’s good. There should be a shuttle to the hotel. But ask first before booking ground transportation.
Fan Fun + Meet and Greets – Again, due to the reschedule we’ve got some dropouts so not doing any fan fun for this one through our core team. There will be many travel fans around though… If you’re looking to meet up before the show or after for a drink, tweet us @papasfans with #TFF2016MU so we can pair you with people or let us know via email that you’re going. But remember the next show is in Vegas so many will be headed to get some rest and back on the road early in the morning to be on time in Reno. Plan to meet up beforehand (like that afternoon, 2 hours before the show).
If you’re trying to get backstage, you need to contact the venue directly and see what VIP options they have (remember the VIP Canopy seating is sold out according to the site but the VIP tables are available. See if there’s a perk with that purchase). You can also poke at Roland and Curt online and see if they can stick their heads out and say hey for a minute. They are kind people and often loving toward fans. This will be a beautiful show, it’s a lovely place! Go in good spirits!
The fun started early. Fans were eager for rehearsal information, opportunities to just shake hands with the band. We’re all so grateful they are back in the area. Looking amazing too…check out these pictures. Many thanks to Rob Waller who was on the ground for a quick hey to Good Man Curt Smith. Nice photos! #TravelFanTeam
Additional thanks to those on IG who shared their photos with everyone! Be sure to log on and like their pictures. Connect with fellow Tears for Fears fans.
Video Teaser that was released in February to promote the show
Venue Address: 149 Westchester Ave, Port Chester, NY 10573 Suggested Hotels:Doral Arrowood Hotels closer to the area such as the Hilton were sold out due to other events happening at that time.
Meet & Greets: This is not a third party show where meet & greets are handled by a sponsor. That’s all we’ve got. Most likely we’ll arrive a day in advance, have dinner and hang out like we usually do. Some will be driving in from the Canada show so we’ll be waiting on them to get in and keep this fan train rolling.
As information comes in we’ll update this post so be sure to subscribe and follow us on Twitter (@papasfans) for “fan travel” info and shenanigans.
As we get ready to move into another set of Tears for Fears shows in the coming cooler months, we’re reflecting on the excitement that took place a little more than a month ago. Big thanks to our dear pal Pennie for sharing her experience!
Living in a destination city, I have been fortunate to have seen Tears for Fears locally. In the last year I’ve had the opportunity to travel to a couple of shows out of state. I decided on Albuquerque/Sandia Resort because the show was at an amphitheater which had wonderful reviews, and this would be my first show experience at an amphitheater.
I arrived mid-morning. The grounds of this resort are quite remarkable, with a beautiful golf course that seemed to be more enhanced by the stunning Sandia Mountains in the distance. In the lobby of the hotel I was greeted by a large TV screen displaying the announcement of the TFF show! I was obviously in the right place!
Show Time!
We arrived at our seats just as Tears for Fears was taking the stage. We found that people were sitting in our seats. An honest mistake, I’m sure. Luckily, an usher helped get them to their correct seat. It was near dusk with a slight breeze, and slowly the stage lighting became more colorful. The set list was very similar to previous shows on the tour. Some of my high points:
-The wonderful guitar rift on EWTRW makes me feel like I’m floating.
-I LOVE the new techno intro for Pale Shelter.
-Break it Down Again (video below)- Roland was doing his best to keep the crowd involved, encouraging everyone to get their arm up and swing it side to side. We had a pretty responsive audience.
-Memories Fade- This song is quite emotional for me. I never get tired hearing TFF play this song.
-Creep… we all know how we feel about Creep!!
I took an audio recording of Head Over Heels. I always do when my daughter isn’t with me. It’s one of her favorite TFF songs and I love to share the moment with her.
Later in the show, the wind picked up quite a bit and was blowing from all different directions. The band had a heck of a time keeping their hair from blowing across their faces… some more so than others. Roland stated joking with Curt about his hair which made the crowd laugh.
Technical difficulties always seem to turn into an amazing, impromptu masterpiece of winging it. At the beginning of Woman in Chains, I think the wind knocked one of Jamie’s drum sticks from his hand because everything stopped while someone brought him another drum stick. The wind continued to blow and I was becoming a bit nervous about the overhead speakers and lighting which were swinging back and forth over the stage. I had to tell myself to “Focus on the music Pennie.”
During the show I noticed a guy running up and down the steps several times who would turn his ear to the stage and listen as he reached a seat below us. I ran into him after the show and asked if he was working the boards because I kept seeing him running up and back? He said “Yes, how did it sound?” You could tell he was genuinely interested in my opinion. I told him it was absolutely wonderful.
I come away from this show knowing that Tears for Fears genuinely cares about their fans. We are truly fortunate to have Tears for Fears touring again!
Looking forward to the next adventure!

Tears for Fears are noted on the Free Press Summer Festival 2015 Line-Up. This festival has several positive reviews. The event will take place on the 6th and 7th of June. Tickets are for both days. Whatever you pay, you get access to both days.
Location: Houston, Texas USA at Elanor Tinsley Park in the Fourth Ward Type: Festival (standing)
Doors open at 11am each day Click here for a slew of #FPSF reviews on Venue: Suggested Lodging: After all that festival frolicking you’re going to want a nice place to sleep. We highly suggest Hyatt Houston. Should be about$159 + tax per night if arriving on a Friday evening and choosing a standard room (which should be sufficient for most but other options are available including suites…and they are worth it). You’re going to want to get your pre-festival rest and Hyatt has some of the best beds of the hotel chains we frequent. Prices – Gen Am – $158 + admin fees, 2nd Tier/Fancy Pants is $223.50 + admin fees Ultra Experience is the Silk Pajamas Package/The Ultimate Experience, it’s a little over $1000 USD after admin fees.
Online Review Sites such as Yelp rate FPSF fairly high – photo by Mark G. See his review.
Early concerns… Believe it or not we’re getting feedback less than a few minutes after this event was posted. Many are VERY excited that TFF is going to be out and about. However, some just aren’t fans of festivals because they only want to see TFF and have no sincere interest in other bands. “Paying one huge ticket price for one show is worth it but not practical in these slow to go grow economic times,” one follower stated. Our suggestion is to please consider the area and all of the fun tourist sites and activities available. Houston is a pretty cool city with lots to do. There had been some low line chatter aka “convos on the DL” about 2 years back that this beloved band would be doing some festivals. And as we loyalists know, they make good on their word and often at just the right time.
Fan Activities – Once we hear back on who is going and what everyone wants to do we’ll post it here. If you plan to go do not delay on buying tickets. Contrary to popular belief, Festivals DO sell out. Don’t end up having to buy one off Ebay. Just a warning. xoxox
Thanks for reading!

The Tears for Fears Las Vegas show at the Palm was another win-win for the band and the fans. Reviews, photos and commentary about the show are stating it was fantastic and the travel fans are thrilled that Good Man Curt Smith gave a shoutout from the stage! That means the world to us as a team and band fan family. Over 56 West Coast Kooks gathered to meet up with locals and join the hundreds of people that filled the Pearl Theatre. It was EPIC and quickly named one of the best shows of #TFF2014.
~~This post is lengthy and will detail logistic notes, the good and the bad, so feel free to scroll down to “the show” if you’re looking to get just the details on the performance ~~
Great picture from Sweet E. (looks like Ramskull’s cousin)
Accommodations – Loving the Palm – Black Friday Deals! One of the plusses of this band fan excursion were the black friday deals posted by the Palm Casino and Resort. Rooms were as low as $39 on Sunday night. So if you stayed through the weekend you were looking at $150 at most for 2 days in select rooms at this swank hotel. It was quite a bonus. The staff at the Palm were very accommodating and favourited several of our Twitter posts as they were aware the team was coming in for the show. Can’t stress enough how helpful they were, absolutely awesome via phone. Also great, speedy, easy to navigate booking process online as well.
Looking at other logistics – OMG, are we even gonna make it?!
Our planning for this excursion started the very day that the concert was confirmed. Again, there was a hint that Vegas was on the TFF 2014 list but after reading in September/October that the tour was “done for the year” (or something to that nature) many assumed that this meant no more shows. Suddenly Jimmy Kimmel Live was confirmed and shortly after, the Vegas show at the Palm and KROQ. This meant fans had just over a month to prepare for more travel. To top that off, Lady K discovered the BellyUp show some time after that and was one of few who managed to grab a ticket before it was too late. That venue holds approx 500 people (according to fellow fans) and those tickets sold out “within minutes” from what we understand.

With the additional shows announced, multiple East Coast Travel Fans checked their calendars, got time off from work and begged babysitters to watch the little ones so they could be there to enjoy the GoodMan, the Good Sir and team for the holidays. But after looking at the plane tickets, several saw that prices on most carriers were DOUBLE the usual amount. Even the ‘Black Friday’ sales were quite high – some carriers were listing East Coast to LAS as $450-$1000 (Atlanta rate) in November and by the time we got to the week of, the tickets were $905 to $1100+. Trying to get tickets for oneself, not to mention a spouse became questionable. Many fans from the East Coast stated this was one of the reasons they would not be there. $2000 is quite a bit to spend when it’s usually $290-$350 round trip. So, in short, getting to these final shows of the year was not easy. Kudos to the 2 East Coasters that reported they would be in for the show and those that checked-in during the arrival roll call.
After conducting a survey for travel fans and also speaking to loyals who have a reputuation for going anywhere the band goes, we see that “some” communication between those who release show info and those who need it (i.e. Travel Fans and TFF loyals on both coasts) is greatly lacking. We certainly will need more than a month’s notice, preferably 60 days. We don’t feel 87+ x $97 is a bad profit for the venue to gain…but those 87 were not there, so that’s ticket dollars lost. Hello to whom it may concern!!! This band is special!! It has a travelling fan club much like Duran Duran’s and we need advanced notices, not a week before tickets go on sale!! Thanks!! <– A formal system has been set up to address this. We’ll see what happens…
Shipmates and their Captain, Julian Orzabal, ruler of the high seas, creator of The Wonky Woo childrens book series and lead singer w/DelaQ. Boom Boom, SK & the Captain
The SS DelaQ Rolled In…
One of the major highliights of the trip was Captain Julian Orzabal being on hand as well as Lady Rise. Friday night’s drinks and fan fun featured shipmates Silver Kitty, Becky Boom Boom, Lady Rise and the Captain himself. We’re always thrilled to have him around. He is an integral part of fan life!
Fan MeetUp
The next night, long time fan Alfredo, who was also with us back in 2012 at Sunset Station and countless shows before that, hosted the Travel Fan meetup for this occasion. Fans met up in front of the Pearl Theatre at 3:30pm for a drinks and convos. Anxious as we are, several got in line soon after. Pictures and check-ins from the West Coast Kooks poured in. A few East Coast Kook/Travel Fans also made it in (some last minute). “We’re in skirts” Becky Boom Boom texted when asked “what’s tonight’s attire?” Fans looked incredible in their fashionable #TourCouture. Pennie K with the purple sharpie, Silver Kitty swankin’ in silver and gray, Becks in blue, Lady K had a stylish sway as did Cams with her cool hair colour. High five for Haute Couture on tour!
Tears for Fears loyalists and travel fans ready for ROCS! #ItsMagic
Big shoutout to #DrummerGenius Jamie Wollam who gave some hugs and hellos to familiar faces! We’re always glad to know he’s around. Beatifully bearded Bill was seen the night before…that’s always a plus. “Bill!!! Bill!!!”

Another shoutout to the Good Man Curt Smith for his #TravelFan team shoutout on stage and a big high five to Sweet E and her daughter Audrey for making the trip from the midwest to Vegas. Let’s add a ‘Big hug and kiss’ to Rosalie, maraming salamat ya kapatid!! She went around and hugged everyone, delivering love from Manila. And a cool virtual hug to Lady Wzzy for getting a picture for Patricia who stayed up late in France.

The Show
Twitter, Instagram and FB lit up with videos and photos of the band. Text messages filled phones with photos and video of the dynamic duo dancing and doin’ their thing on stage. It was a circular raised theatre platform so the band seemed spread out but fans on the front row managed some great shots and cool footage inlcuding this one taken by Cams.

Tears for Fears’ Vegas shows have a long history of being some of the most fun ones on record. Fans fly in from ALL OVER THE WORLD to be there, including those from outside the states. The fan family continues to grow and we’re all gearing up for another amazing year with the band leading the way. Many thanks to all of the travel fans who worked tirelessly around the clock to scan the internet for ticket deals. Thanks to Becky’s daughter, Lady Rise, Lady K, Pennie K, Silver Kitty, Becky for their contributions to the travel team from day one and a roaring number of others who were determined to be there. Huge thanks to those who stayed up all night long watching, RT-ing and those on deck who provided photos and more for all to enjoy. Another EPIC online party and show!
One of the awesome things about travelling to see this band is meeting up with fellow dedicated fans. The group is very diverse with writers, photographers, up & coming artists, award-winning musicians and families, sometimes third and fourth generation…and all from different cultures and walks of life. We all make great efforts to get to the shows with one common goal; Celebrate Tears for Fears.
This year we were happy to find out in advance that our honourary Travel Fan Pal, Jason DeBord, would be in attendance. He mentioned he’d aim to join the crowd for two shows, L.A. and Oakland. Here’s his review of the L.A. Wiltern sold out show that took place last month.
Review – Tears for Fears – Los Angeles – Venue – The Wiltern
“Is that the new iPhone 6?” Roland Orzabal, early on in the show, as he and Curt Smith looked out over the sea of cell phones in the air, held by an exuberant sold out crowd at the historic Wiltern in Los Angeles last night. Tears for Fears, best known for their collection of timeless and classic New Wave hits from the 80s, do not tour very often, and when they do, the tours are usually not too many dates and cities. So there was a bit of an “event” feeling in the air, and based on some of their comments later in the show, they both seem to have quite an affinity for the City of Angels. Click here to read more.

Please read on to see the photos and videos from other professional writers and media team members and fans. Many thanks to everyone who contributed links, recordings and show photos. We’ve been sharing them for over a week and the excitement from this tour hasn’t left us…it lingers throughout the day and night, well into our dreams.

What a nice tweet from the band! Great picture! Lovely wrap up of 2014!
It's been amazing run of shows. Thank you to those of you who came out! It was so good to see you again…. pic.twitter.com/LT65P8Lnxs
Pros and Cons of 2014 – Let’s Be Real + Live Tweets & Instagram Posts
5. We’ve already agreed the tour was short notice. But we learned it was not the band’s intention (nor did we assume it was). They aren’t a team of arses so let’s move on from this.
4. It wasn’t East Coast as everyone assumed the next tour would be. But let’s rejoice that the midwest was once again included…and we had a damn good time in Texas and Oklahoma! Big thanks to Becky for helping make that happen.
Don’t be jealous, saddle up and ride the travel fan train. #GoToShows
3. 4 out 5 shows were general admission – Booo! Many fans reported to me that their bodies just can’t handle sitting on the ground outside or standing against a wall for long periods of time anymore. That is very understandable! As Carri would say, “We OVERstand your pain.” For those that mustered through the agony, thank you w/a virtual heating pad for those legs and ankles! We had a great time waiting in line and meeting new people! High Five to Katie and Snap Happy Pam…and to Jamie Wollum Drummer Genius for making it worth everyone’s while.
2. This was expensive!Actually, it was the same price as the last two tours with respect to hotel prices, food, merch, show tickets and airfare combined. The kicker was if you didn’t rent a car from the airport, it was easily $250-$333 each way from Dallas into Thackerville…adding an extra $500-$600.
BUT!!! Enter the Travel Fan Team —> ; We worked together. So, for those who carpooled or offered it, thank you! Huge thanks to Becky for clocking over 1,000 miles to get fans from point A to B and back again in time to catch their flights.
1. Missing Info & People… yeah. What was up with the lack of email newsletters from the offical tears for fears website? The official twitter handle was still only posting throwback thursday photos vs. show announcements. But that seems to be changing, so…let’s not be hard on band management, there are a lot of great folks behind that team. We owe them a lot.
**But can I just add that personally I missed Stand or Fall in the pre-show music series, like, maaaan, we were waitin’ on that track. Cool to have Seal but The Fixx, you know, that used to come on just before TFF on radio hit countdowns and…let me stop. I won’t kick up a stink over it. I should be happy in the pink.
See, somebody didn’t get the memo and missed a show! Not cool! Not cool!!
Annnd…a lot of people just couldn’t make it…but you know, it worked in the end for those that could. We were really worried if we could pull this off and by the Grace we did and were able to share the experience with the teams and families.
Shout out to fans who celebrated from home and a big congrats to Travel Fans Mark & SheeShee who got married the weekend of the Thackerville show! They of course played Tears for Fears at their wedding! As it should be done…
Mark and Sheila (Shee Shee is our DelaQ shipmate nickname for her) have been travelling the Travel Fan train for years, so loyal to the band and each other 🙂
Pros
5. Beautiful Accommodations – Minus the indoor smoking in the Thackerville casino, it was a cute place. Huge too! You got your money’s worth! We also found some new places to hang out in Los Angeles – even after having spent several summers there we always discover something cool on each visit.
4. Great time of year to tour – We like the September dates, not too hot, not too cold, just right. Breezy, beautiful weather in every location
3. The setlists were FANTASTIC! No, it wasn’t a new album, but the show selections had a whole new feel. Songs were re-arranged, Lorde’s cover of EWTRTW was a great intro with all due respect to Dance of the Knights of which we enjoyed immensely for two tours. Adding Ready to Start was ultra refreshing coupled with Roland’s dancing and the band really getting into it…and of course the Working Hour stole our souls…unforgettable! #LegendaryHistoricMoment!
Shows are full of surprises!
2. Okay, Roland and Curt were very generous in more ways than one. They were extremely obliging where permissible at their own will. THAT is more than any fan can ask for! Still overwhelmed from that.
So many people incredibly excited to see Roland, Curt + team! Makes our heart beam! 🙂
1. Curt and Roland look great! The entire team is fit as a fiddle and in tip top shape. They were interactive, full of smiles, great fashion and stage presence, birthday shoutouts…and they did a mini-roll call with shout outs to the Kooks and those that travelled a long way to see them. Most of all…they are celebrating over 30 of music. 30 Years…And they still rule the world like a bunch of smokin’ hot badasses! BOOM! They ARE all that! Peace! :drops mic and walks away:
Thanks for reading 😉

Well, it’s showtime! About a year earlier than we expected too!Tears for Fears will be in concert on the 20th of September in …wait for it… Thackerville, Oklahoma (@ the Global Event Center)!! Why are we exicted? It’s in the middle of the United States. That means it’s roughly a 3 hour flight max for just about anyone and should be no more than $200 – $300 dollars round trip per fan. Tickets went on sale on Friday and VIP was snatched up not only by fans but also ended up in the hands of third party ticket sellers like ‘Box Office’ (original price $88 per ticket on TM, Box Office total after tax, etc. = $700+ for VIP and $300 for premium). It’s on their site.
Bobby hanging out with the Captain, they look cool don’t they…ahh yeah.. (pls do not repost)
Remaining Tickets Thanks to Bobby R of the Travel Fan Team who got in touch with us very early. Because of Bobby’s efforts we were able to get several dedicated fans in the first few rows of the VIP section. THAT IS HUGE given that so many had issues with the Ticketmaster online service. In some cases, fans had row AA which is third row for this show (the first 3 rows RA-RC are Artist Reserve/Casino according to the establishment and are unavailable for purchase to the general public) but when one clicked “okay” on the ticketmaster site, the site simply froze. It was as if one needed to start all over again. One had to literally try again because the site seemed to auto-release the tickets so you couldn’t get what was originally available. It was extremely frustrating. We do not understand why this happened and we will reach out to Ticketmaster with a formal inquiry. Who knows if it will make a positive difference in the future but hopefully it will help other fans get the seats they need. Several decided, this time around, they probably wouldn’t be going to the concert out of frustration with the ticket situation. It’s quite understandable.
Why Such Short Notice?!!?
We can’t overlook the fact that most of us who follow the band daily were under the impression that there wouldn’t be any shows until 2015. We received comments such as, “Out of the blue, we had less than a week to find extra cash during this challenging economy for tickets!!” For those that experienced a tough time coming up with the cash – so many tweeted us about it – please remember our past discussions on having a Superfan savings account for tickets. If everyone puts aside just enough for 1 (approx $100) ticket that might be the solution in cases where we get surprises like these.
Who Is Going?
Ticketmaster shows that 187 people pre-reserved their attendance by Thursday. After the initial ticket sales, over 350 seats were purchased and following that, more and more. There will also be lots of fans from the 80s (those that are catching up after losing contact for a few years), new faces/their kids and, of course, the die-hards…the long time fans who have made a professional career of following TFF. Some decided to cancel previously scheduled events and late summer holiday/vacations in order to attend. The others…well, quite a few regulars said they just aren’t going. They can’t cancel everything this late in the game and go. So our usual TFF fan Cabana Club will probably not be in session as it wouldn’t be the same without them. We’ve got some other plans on file and we’ll discuss that once we complete a roll call; to be sure everyone has their tickets and the seats of their choice.
From a Kelly Clarkston fan… photos of a 2012 concert set up, 2013/14 shows black chairs that are much wider than these.
I WANT VIP!!
There are still a few VIP seats available at ticketmaster rates. Row AA (third row) is available through third party vendors. VIP North (Curt’s usual side) and South (Roland’s usual side) are still available through ticketmaster. We, the Travel Fan Team, have 3 VIP seats for sale at the ticketmaster price (there is no profit, these are tickets we obtained after seat changes and are the same as what was paid thru ticketmaster).
-1 VIP center (Roland’s side)
-2 VIP South (Roland’s side)
-2 premium seating (center section A)
Inquire via email to ‘Tears for Fears & Kooks’ on FB.
What Does the Venue Look Like?
–Click here for seating chart & info on the area plus facts about the casino from a K. Clarkston fan. Look at the video for seat placement reference, it’s very helpful. Goes back 7 rows. RA to VIP Center DD.
-Click here to see a standard room at the Casino (We’ve been informed that suites are only available Sun-Thurs, call the Casino directly to get confirmation)
Flight & Accommodation Suggestions:
This really depends on what your ‘TFF Fan on Tour Budget’ looks like… Visit this page to see what options are available. If you can stay at the Casino, then do so. The venue is at the Casino, so you wouldn’t have to worry about traffic coming in from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. You can take a rental car from the airport to the venue or reserve a limo service for the 1.5 hour ride. Uber is most likely available as well. The event center suggests ‘Limo Joe.’ In the past, driving into the venue at this distance cost about $150 by chauffeur/in towncar that seats 4 (each way).
Curt Smith and his Phils Kooks in The Philippines
Meet & Greets
Rumours are flying around that there is a meet & greet for VIP ticket holders but we don’t have any such confirmations. Perhaps it’s for those in rows RA – RC but again, that is not a confirmation and in order to keep blood pressures and superfanitis down, the thought should not even be entertained unless a member of the band or management says it’s so.
*Will There Be Any Other Shows? (updated)
Yes, one at Austin Music Hall and 3 @ #ProjectPabst but no other shows have officially been announced at this time. Keep up with the official page so you can be on top of show dates.
If you have any other questions about “fan travel” send us an email to the ‘TFF & Kooks’ FB page. We’ll gladly give the best advice and any permissible info! We understand that you’ve invested a part of your life and cash into this band, we as fellow fans want you to have a smooth flight, a beautiful stay and a great time at the show!

(Andye, Carri & Kai’s experience – narrated by Andye)
It has taken longer than I personally would have liked to publish these experiences. I learned that many others were also suffering from post Tears For Fears tour syndrome which is a real illness that leaves fans incapable of remaining focused on reality. Fiascos occur, people break things, drop the purse dog…a number of things seem to collapse and go ignored in the outside world… and in my case I was just sleepless and a ball of depression because my “happy place” is always with that band. Eventhough my experiences were logged and typed I couldn’t bear to re-read/edit them without whimpering and wishing to repeat it all over again…even the crazy stuff.
Worry/Fear&Confusion
I know we’re beating a dead horse here. But how we made it to the tour was nothing short of a miracle. I’ll leave it at that. You talk about going into war ration mode…smh. How people’s children were fed is beyond me, cause mum & dad were determined to make it to at least two shows and that’s how it was for members in each region.
As mentioned in previous entries, this tour caught us off guard. The band (particularly Curt) is really good about letting us know well in advance the schedules and shows. So the announcement in May/June sent us into turbo mode and we just got crazy working two jobs, selling art and cutting back on luxuries so we could have the resources to follow the band for a few days.
Ahoy Mates, Captain J is coming!
When Captain Julian (Roland’s brother) came onboard we wanted to make sure it was a really memorable fun week and a half on the fanship. When we finally got word on what Henderson/Vegas venue we were going to be in I booked rooms, flights, etc using reward miles and our fan club funds that miraculously had been pooled to a level of promise. (Alhmdl)
I was scheduled for the first and third show as I wanted to get in town to salute the Captain on Thursday which would mean I’d have to miss San Fran show (supposedly the best show of the entire US leg of the tour). I made my checklist and packed on Sunday night, sat in the sauna, chanted and did other pre-tour rituals including cleaning my flat from top to end.
Tuesday I finished up at the network on time to be whisked off to LAX. As customary I was whisked away to the airport by one of our AABCE team members who owns a car service company. Mind you a week away for me in Atlanta where I’m running a number of media projects for network TV and global social circles doesn’t stop, television and the daily goings on of community life have to keep going. So there I am in the airport looking for a quiet place in the Delta terminal to pop in my tunes and start pecking away responding to some friends who were hosting a holiday show (the Tour was smack in the middle of one of the most important days on the international calendar…Me pecking away on a device was a common scene…
Kids from Montreal were rolling around me. The sound from the TV seemed to penetrate through my headphones but I kept going; determined to try and sleep on that plane so I’d be extra alert for the meetup planned for that night at the Hilton, which was the official hotel for the Orange County Fair.
Deb poses for a picture in the OC just before the show… photo taken by Andye (with Deb’s camera)
Not sure what sort of nervous energy I’m sending from deep inside of my conscious but I always seem to be on planes where someone has a heart attack. It happened again mid air. I was fearful we’d have to land and I’d be late meeting my new driver friends from Russia. The man was taken care of by doctors on the plane and Delta staff. He was so well afterwards he rushed off the plane. The guy beside me, also a Tears For Fears fan, and I looked at each other in awe. “Did he just run off the plane? Was that him?” I asked. The fellow fan whose chin was practically on the floor looked at me and nodded ::yes:: eyes as wide as the grand canyon.
Walking this now familiar route through LAX, I got my bags on my own because the driver was late. This is an issue for me. I pay extra for inside pick up not b/c I’m a stuck up snob who can’t carry her own suitcase but I’m so nervous from excitement I can barely focus. I become shaky and weak.
Driver came, crazy apologetic with his Russian accent still in place after 17years…as an expat’s kid it was comforting. Arriving just after 7pm to the Hilton, I changed clothes with a fellow fan who came upstairs (people were staying everywhere in the area not just the Hilton). We met the bar manager who explained how the seating and billing would work the next day for our meetup. I met our hostess and sent a note to everyone I could think of to have them come over before the show then we’d all carpool over and march in like fan club soldiers to the venue.
Dinner at the Hilton is under-rated
Linda Lulu had a Sirloin something and fries I had Mushroom stuffed Ravioli w/Spinach and goat cheese puree. It was unreal….We had 5 types of sorbet and ice cream for dessert. Again, dinner there is pretty darn good…
ShowDay!!
Morning came so fast. I got up and began exercising, running around, enjoying the healing California air. Breakfast and all…I lived like a healthy normal human being vs the stressed rat I can turn into when I addictively take on too much in Atlanta. I’m a member of overcommitters anonymous, Hi My name is Andye and I like to do too much. Hi Andye!!
…and fans came in and picked up their tickets from my room and headed over to the fair early. I stayed behind, got dressed and then met up with Eileen (Duranie: Duran Duran’s fan club is the sister Fan Club to ours) for the meetup. One by one people text regarding the awful traffic and told me that they couldn’t get to the Hotel…even Carri and Kai were stuck in the LA usual. Eileen and I left and went to get settled in what people term “our fanclub seats.”
Kai and Carri at the backstage/meet&greet -Takin’ Care of Business, superfan style…
Meetup 2 was for a group shot at the front of the fair. But everyone was lost and scattered. Eileen and I waited, me on two phones looking like an agent trying to figure out where everyone was. Just before going in we headed to merch, stocked up, rolled our eyes ultra hard at the gentleman who not only held up the line but seemed to not know the names of the band and tried to correct the merch dude who looked shocked as we did…I scooped up my boat load of branded items including the incredible blue Tears for Fears water bottle…thing of beauty and skidaddled off. Inside we found lots of fans, Carina Round was just getting to the stage. It’s funny Carri and I bought our tickets 5 hours apart and ended up in the same section right next to each other. Mixed emotions and grunts were in the crowd. Carina apparently felt we should already know her music. I sadly hadn’t had a moment with all that pre-tour prepping and travel back and forth to LA to listen to it all.. So I didn’t sing along but paid attention respectfully. Her song, “Pick up the phone,” was an eye opener and touched heavily on what sounded like the results of unexpected pregnancy?? It was so painful to hear and a few men squirmed in their chairs which is perhaps what was supposed to happen. I’m glad she wrote it. Makes a great gift to those who need to hear it. Lesson given. Lesson learned. Don’t fuck around. Carina didn’t stop there she kept it going, calling out to the audience to sing with her. Again, all I could do was hum along. When she said it would be the first time an audience hadn’t sang along a man yelled very loud and clear, “We don’t know the song!!” I can’t remember what happened after that…I don’t know if I want to.
sitting by the stage singing pre-show hits by The Fixx and snapping photos… Photo from Andye’s phone
When she left the stage “Stand or Fall” came on and Carri, Kai and I went nuts. Especially me…singing loudly to the dismay of the woman on the front row of the circle. She stared, I sang at her…hoping she would join in. She seemed stiff, uncomfy and alone…not sure why she chose a seat next to the stage and didn’t expect superfans to be near. I gave up on her and we continued singing. Then the lights went out and superfan Andye (my alter ego) came out of nowhere, stood in the aisle and just went into Tears For Fears mega-fan mode. It was unreal..
!!!THE SHOW!!!
Deb’s photo from the OC show…
The show…could have gone on for four hours and it would not have been enough for me or the hundreds of others who flew in. I was elated with every moment of it. Those two hours are what I wait for all year round. Knowing this was just two of several that I’d experience over the coming days just thrilled me to bits. I didn’t bother trying to stay still I just went nuts.
Curt and Roland come to the stage moments after this phenomenal musical intro (Romeo and Juliet’s Dance of the Knights ::thanks Lady Arlene::Curt told us what it was back in 2011 but I kept forgetting b/c I didn’t write down the exact name. It’s a strong heavy piece of classical music that is slightly haunting…and I LOVE IT!!

Anticipation grows as it continues. I begin to lose it. I just start freakin out screaming… (like a person watching a football game, it was …scary in hindsight). I can barely listen to it without kinda freakin’ out again. If you hear it (in the link above)…I kind of just go into French, and then I make one of our cultural tribal calls…Funny, when I’m standing next to them at random, I’m quiet as a mouse. Then the lights go up and EWTRTW begins with those first chords and my soul soars to sky like a helium balloon…I’m high above myself as if it’s G-d holding me above the stage…and the sing-a-long of all sing-a-longs begins with everyone up, dancing and belting it out word for word. I’m like first chair in a band, loyal like a career soldier soaking it up like a sponge… Our happy place is LIVE! This is a dream come to life …our reality, hard work and months of waiting have come to fruition. I’m in total bliss. They sound crisp, are looking alive, well rested, refreshed and very strong.
Roland is well dressed (no plaid shirts– Plaid isn’t worthy of Roland. Only solid button downs, jackets are smart enough for his handsome build and angelic slightly tanned skin tone…he is so fine he is too hot to hold). That saying Clothes make the man, well, honey ::He makes the clothes:: They looked so good it was hard to look at them without shouting like a sinner in a church, pray.
Roland and Curt on stage at OC Fair
Our souls drifted above us dancing around while our physical selves became a drenched pool of excitement. The whole team could be seen. Jeanie and Colleen, Kim, Margie and Traci…all of us.
I continue to go into full international superfan mode with a wail of zaghareets after EWTRTW. Carri and Kai were cracking up at me. I’ve been told I’m quite a show in the show because I start “speaking in tongues” (which is just me yelling in my Arabic-French)…I’m on cloud9 so I have no idea what is going on behind me, my focus is this heavenly show.
I had every word right, Carri dancing front of me, Traci recording the show and I’m doing every move from the video decked out in my traditional Nigerian-Indian dress. Then Floating Down A River came on…I tripped up the words, damnit and I swear Curt laughed, looked right at me… ::BUSTED:: (I spent the next Thursday morning with that song on repeat just to make sure I had it corrected for the next show). Can’t be a superfan if you can’t sing the songs. After Badman’s song I had given my all. I felt faint. I almost fell off the steps that were connected to the stage where I was standing. I was literally fainting from just pure bliss. I’ve decided to start drinking water between songs. I’m sure a lot of it is dehydration.

The Crowd
There were three women up front who remained standing. It was fun waving back and forth to them on “Floating down a river” one of the many songs audiences didn’t seem to know. The woman got a kiss smack on the lips as the show ended. (Video is below, complete with gasps and OMGs from fans in shock or longing for the same)
And when the audience didn’t know a song they shamelessly sat down.Who sits down at a concert!!? Since their music has a good beat, not sure why people didn’t stay on their feet …and dance… Blows my mind. I could have cared less! Sure, FDAR was new to me too at one time but I didn’t sit down. I was disappointed with the crowd.
The venue was okay, The Higher Power gave us good weather and that just made it a perfect show coupled with the band’s talent. I tell you, I danced. I mean, I moved. With less than a footwide step of space next to the far right hand side of the stage, I made it work. In my pink and white salwar I could not be stopped. The insanely strict security didn’t even try to say anything.
Odd moments:
Carina’s dancing… Bless her soul she did all sorts of awkward movements. We just laughed. She was fun and funny. We yelled for the encore and out came Curt’s kids and a few other sweet ones. They sang into the microphone just like the kids on the video…I tell you, that band…that band…it does not begin or end they are just an infinity of excitement on and offline LIVE at shows. They bring about so much excitement I have to literally go to a comfy spot of sunshine and serenity to complete these blog posts because the emotions of reliving those show and tour moments are hard to handle. I often have to sit down.
TFF Drummer JW handed this right over, bless his heart!
Finale
The show came to a close and Jamie and Charlton waved goodbye. Jamie walked right over and handed me a drum stick and Carri took the other. I’m still overwhelmed with gratitude every time I think about it.
Pre-Meet&Greet
I had some personal biz to take care of with the Good Man and Ravishing Rollie Sunshine. I waited 10 mins before going backstage and while waiting a woman came over and said the funniest thing. “The guitar player really took to you. He was staring at you a lot. I got some pictures of him starring if you’d like?” I told her I’m always around and nothing new to him. Charlton was probably laughing at my Roland dance during “Change.” She then realised we were the superfans and she shook her head knowingly.
Tears For Fears Meet&Greet
Backstage…This was not planned. I had no intentions of going back there. It was a suggestion made by a higher authority that we take care of business back there. So, there we went, Carri, Kai and I with our passes stuck to us visibly as instructed. I smiled and nodded at familar faces then someone said Roland was at the far end of this open night sky area.
The area was lit with red and yellow stage like lighting reflecting off of walls and the night sky. There was what looked like a cash bar but turned out to be a nicely arranged serving dish with ice in it and bottles of wine and beer. I politely didn’t touch it as I wanted to be as brief as possible. I sadly live in fear of getting on their nerves so I’m known to keep a safe distance, wave, nod and then go my way unless called to do otherwise. And let the record show, I’m always open for otherwise but again, fan club etiquette rules to which I signed my name in blood, keep me well-behaved.
Curt Smith and Fan Carri 2012 Orange County California
Curt came out and began handshakes and his beautiful family was in the mix. Everyone raved about how awesome the show was and you kind of had to make sure you didn’t bump into anyone as hands were being shook to the left and the right as people greeted each other. There were hand all reaching out in every direction. Curt saw us and began inching his way over. We met in the center and he began re-introducing his wife to us of whom we hadn’t really formally shaken hands with but had always smiled, nodded and spoke to in passing. Curt was about to give me a hug but I spared him getting soaked because my Kamiseta was damp as was my veil. So we air kissed. It was cute and funny. Love that man…I swear, under G-d there he is.
Business was handled then Carri, Kai (and the kids ??) took pictures. They turned out amazing. Curt asked to see and we turned the camera around. He approved. Look at that photo above, stunning! It’s like looking at a ray of sunshine. I swear you could hear stars just clinking against each other as we all stood there. It’s like the band just oozes goodness.
Curt in amazing light…
We stepped aside as others were mixing and mingling closer in a tetrits sort of way. Then…I stepped back to just stay out of the way while waiting for Carri and Kai who were chatting with Jamie and the team. I saw that Roland was doing the same…standing there off to the side listening to someone talk. His son had just stepped away and the Good Sir Orzabal was left with a stranger, holding a glass, nodding and listening. That convo ended and they sort of stood there looking at others. Roland looked at me. I nodded respectfully like a well-trained child. Roland told the guy he was gonna slip on out. The guy shook his hand and was already in another conversation with another person within seconds. Roland stood there very casual as if we were at a dinner party just hanging out..he was looking at me as if he’d seen me a thousand times, like you look at your neighbour at the monthly townhall meeting…as if to say, “Well Ralph here we are again…another fine night…”
Now, this moment in reality couldn’t have been more than 1-2 minutes…maybe less… But every second felt like 60 and everything slowed down to a historic Thuc Indonesian style speed.
Now there are two levels of energy going here. There’s Roland’s casual “hey Andye” vibe (as if I’m a neighbour he sees everyday)…and then there’s mine… The “I’m standing in a space that contains the only two people I care about next to G-d …I am in the level before heaven, the ruler of the majestic cloud 9 is standing here before me, in a beautiful shirt, with perfectly done hair, immaculate skin, a physique to envy for days and no cultural judgement against me for wearing a hijab in his show.”
He leaned forward putting his head closer to mine (yes there’s that amazing hair) I’m sorry guys…I’m fangirling…He leaned down closer so he could hear what I was saying as I handed him the non-conflict commodities. In doing so I went into full on Nigerian mode. I was bowing and courtseying as if I was standing next to the leader of the Ibo Market. I thanked him for letting me sing last year…bowed again. He said something like, “Yeahhh,” with a you’re a friend look…as if I was a 20yrs long staff member or something. And I’m like, “wow, really?” I was in such shock because I expected to feel low and unworthy in his presence (a total Wayne and Garth moment) and instead I felt like…like a…a friend…and I was so shocked my last sentence just fell into French and I bowed again and he put the commodities away. Like waking up slowly from a dream I turned in a daze, everything was hazy and I found myself heading straight for a wall. I turned just in time, avoiding what could have been a bloody nose, to find Carri, Jamie, Charlton and others chatting.
We stayed about 15-20 mins. Then we told Curt we had to go catch the plane to the next city. Roland had vanished off behind a second area of the backstage section. We waved goodbye then QUICKLY met up w/some fans for funnelcakes and photos by the sunflowers…then a mad dash to the car to get ready for the rest of the tour.
All I can say is…duuudee…Roland and Curt are like too freakin cool! Again that Rollie Sunshine encounter was no more than a few seconds…but a beautiful coherent blur I cherish…it’s wild knowing what it’s like to see a miracle play out before you. After seeing that I can recognise the hand of G-d on many occasions. He is real. I don’t mean to turn this into a spiritual thing but that moment was Euphoric. (Ohhh great, I’m crying now)I remember at one point I had to look down to fiddle with the box because he is so good looking my mouth and chin were dropping and my eye brows were furling because I couldn’t understand how someone can look that amazing! I remember my hand trembling slightly and I lifted it up so he wouldn’t notice…he probably did. Oh well…
By accident we took the long way out of the fair…We were stopped by man near a water machine. “Dehydrated me” took a glass and the man selling the water almost talked me into signing up for a year supply of it for an office cubicle. Then we dreamily walked back to the car chatting with a rabbit I named Julian that sat perfectly still in the grass like a guardian as we walked past. G-d was with us. I’m convinced.
Traci S. has all of the good side stage video where we stood… but she’s busy trying to strike a deal with Curt on politics so when she and he get out of the friendship supreme court maybe we’ll get to see them. In the meantime, these are what were posted by people we don’t really know that well…bless their souls for minding the sound.
(Kiss from an Angelic Rose named Roland …just keep watching this Shout Finale to see it. We have a freeze frame of it but…let the video speak for itself)
(for the record, there’s singing on here…by the band and the fans… Go Kai Go!! 😉 Thank you Kai-Kai for getting awesome footage of the show. My hands shake too bad to even try!
(far away shot, but great volume)
(little bit better if you’re just wanting to “see” them)
We sure hope we can get all the pictures and video contributions by those that wanted to contribute. Just let me know…We’ll make sure they are featured.
The amount of fan collaboration for this particular show went above and beyond a level of impressiveness. It’s hard to know where to start in detailing this incredible event that not only happened in Brasil but was tweeted and updated on Facebook for fellow fans to see.
As soon as we found out that Tears for Fears were going back to Brasil we were barely on the plane for the stateside shows. Can we do it? Can we go? That was the question as we sat up late at night in California and Nevada. We asked the Asia fans after their show was there any chance they’d get to come to Brasil. It seemed every region’s account was empty. We were spent…not even enough to send one person.
Photo, from Tani F. in BrasilFans lining up for show… photo by Tani F.
When the actual date was announced we checked the fan club funds again. Still not enough for everyone…barely enough for one and for the stateside fans the concert was on a holiday. Many couldn’t find a way around it. We’d have to depend on the Brasil team to keep us in the know on this show…and there we found ourselves perched for this amazing event via Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook.
The countdown began. Marcio Campos was named the leader for the Brasil team due to his longtime dedication to fans worldwide. He’s been there for years in the Tears For Fears fan circuit using his resources to store the videos, rare items and music for the regional archives…you name it, he’s got it and continues to collect…In addition, he posts regular Facebook updates, remains calm when fans have “band fits” and is very loving and generous…a true cool man and superfan. We are very grateful for all the work he has done. He works closely with Andye on fan projects regarding “the Travelling Fans” and their specific needs, logistics and more.
Two days til showtime and Brasil’s Tears For Fears fans were full on with hotel plans and hoping to see the band out and about town. Sylvia (Arte em Acucar) even made a cake! There was chatter about the other things TFF would be enjoying while there. People were going wild with excitement. Thankfully, no one was hospitalised from too much joy and all fans remained well behaved (at least that is what we’ve been told).
The day of the show, fans woke up early and got ready to line up for the show…Meanwhile, the rest of us perched online; Andye in an Atlanta hotel away from her comical wilderness abode so she could have full, uninterrupted internet service, Carrion a rare day off from work, Candra perched as well (after her favourite shows had gone off) and so many others in many regions including Filipinos who were up before working hours to set up a photo trade between fans far away.
We first heard from leader Marcio. He got photos of the super stage at the Espaco das Americas (show venue) and lights. Bill (travelling band staff) was also photographed as was the Good Man Curt who made sure Uber Awesome Tanya got her hug from her fans on the travel team. We were ready for show time. Andye squealed 3 mins to 8pm via Twitter Brasil time and Carri counted it down along with other fans. Collen wished Curt a good show and said a few cool words to Carina Round. Then, Brasil’s fans went flashing away taking photos, video and more. We didn’t expect videos but they were there…and we were grateful.*Please do not sell the videos of the band for profit. Watermark your photos and make sure all the collected material is protected.
Marcio snags a photo of the stage equipment before the show…
There were long pauses online as we waited for another photo to surface. So, we chatted amongst ourselves. We were contacted by @RobertJ47 (Ontario) who made public a piece of work he titled “All Over The World.“ This is Robert’s salute to the band, he mentions that he performed all of the vocals and did his best to replicate the sound of the group. What made this such a wonderful distraction is that it truly is a beautiful piece of music that has background vocals that sound like CS and RO harmonizing. The leading vocals attempt to be Mr. Orzabal’s and it’s a great effort. It was fun to listen to while awaiting tweets and more from the show.
The Show Officially Begins…
And just like clockwork that amazing “walk out” music begins to play. It is a classical piece and we always forget the official name of it. Then Curt appears…then Roland…and Everybody Wants To Rule The World (the anthem of our lives) begins to play…see for yourself.
Then the list began…that blessed list of songs…that majestic set of TFF tunes we’ve become accustomed to; opening EWTRTW, a mind blowing Curt Smith on Mad World, Rocking, Ravishing Roland on Head Over Heels…the whole set of nearly 20 songs with Woman In Chains and Shout closing out the night. Ahhh the excitement, the literal tears…We’ve already placed most of the concert videos on our Tears for Fears & Kooks Travel Fan page (facebook). We’ll add some to this post as well. If they vanish it is of no fault of our own.
Some very fortunate fans able to get a M&G reported back that Curt and Roland got their hugs sent from the South of France and Oklahoma. Thanks Cristina A.!
we fans wear our VIK Badges to all shows. Marcio was smart and had his signed.
We were thrilled to learn that one of our leaders, Marcio, got one as well. He relayed lovely words and his experience to us via email. Sadly he couldn’t buy any merch. We don’t even know if there was any but the smart chap got his VIK badge signed. Que otimo Primo Marcio!!
Commentary About the Show: The honest truth, not fan gushing:
Fans were honest about their experience. One fan stated that his favourite moment was when the balloons appeared which surprised Roland. It was a beautiful sight. We stateside will have to borrow that. We tried with sunflowers but they were hard to see in the crowds and not everyone was at the same show. Next time guys…next time we pray.
Sky Live’s photo of the TFF Balloons -this and many other pre-show fan activities were organised by Carolina M. (Big thanks!!!)
The least favourite moment by another fan was something involving Carina Round??…on the song Billie Jean? We didn’t want to mention it because we’re not sure we even understand what happened to make it someone’s least favourite moment. From what we do know there was nothing really “wrong” …they just said it was their least favourite…but that it was “fun” to see and something different in the show. Okay, whatever…
Another “comment” from someone else was that the 2011 show in Brasil was better than this 2012 show only because the set list felt new before and now had become rather stale (apparently he goes to a lot of shows as well)…and that’s something we’ve heard from many fans. Several fanatics appear to be ready for a new set list even more than a new album. While we can wait for a new set of songs, a new “set list” with a mix of other songs from all of the albums (similar to the current mix featured) has been continuously requested.
But let’s look at it like this… can other songs realistically be played anymore? There is no saxophone player right now for “Working Hour.” Roland ain’t gonna take his shirt off and sing “I Believe…” and again, there’s no saxophone. “Mothers’ Talk” and “Cold…” are probably not coming back. “Start of the Breakdown” seems to require a special machine? The list goes on, not everything can be replicated in this day and time…well, maybe Ladybird and Music for Tables (still needs a horn though)… We’re pretty sure the band chose these songs with all of that in mind. Now if some of you all who play instruments well and spend your free time re-making TFF’s songs can get together and join our Fan Club Tribute Orchestra we can submit some work and perhaps one of you will be picked to play at a show or something…wing it on Working Hour in “said” city with all of us following to hear you. Andye’s still hoping there will be a clap section or a Flamenco Dancer on I Believe and Sketches of Pain …we’re all dreaming but this is what we’ve got to work with and THANKFULLY 93% of fans polled are just ULTRA EXCITED that the band is playing at all…
Cristina A and Curt after the show for a meet & greet
In all, there were nothing but really positive accounts and fan stories, people in complete awe and in their happy place alive and well. It was impressive to read. Most of the hardcore fans had great seats. Only one dedicated Fan Travel member was far away from the stage …and it was painful as she should’ve been with the rest of the group. An interview was released moments after the night’s events concluded. Seeing several local media and intl music mags based in the country take an interest in the band was comforting. We read it, Andye translated it for non-Portuguese speakers and we, the team, started blogging Friday night…
The band also performed another show that was sponsored by Shell Corporation?(if we are wrong, please someone, alert us as to who sponsored it, nothing worse than giving million dollar credit to the wrong company). Here are two snippets of that surprise:
*Note/Funny comment from the blog moderator: I would not ever want to be “surprised” that TFF was playing at an event I am to attend. As soon as I heard that opening music I’d have been on the ground. The last thing we need as fans are heart attacks as our health is already fragile from constant excitement around this music group. I always want to be well-notified in advance that Tears For Fears are playing (as we assume many were in this case). The idea of them just showing up as a gift from the company would overwhelm me into an early grave. LOL. -Andye
Curt also met one of the famous F1 drivers, F. Alonso while there. You canclick here to see the photo. We believe Sir Alonso came in second according to the sports reports published on Sunday night in the region. Looks like the band enjoyed themselves and had a great time. Curt tweeted his goodbye and says they hope to return, that’s always a very good sign as he is known to keep his word.
captured by Thais Q.
So What’s Next? Looks like a new album is not “out of the question.” We’re thrilled the band is open to the idea. So much new music has been flowing from the group in one way or another…from Curt’s ultra ab fab cool collaborations to Roland’s work (producing?) on other artists’ albums and his brother aka Captain Julian’s band DelaQ’s new album “Into The Blue” …we have a ton of great pieces to hold dear in the archives. It will be a lovely and long awaited event..
RESTORATION * RESTORE YOUR FAN CLUB ACCOUNTS *SLEEP!!
Let’s think about it…the guys have been busy doing this that and the other. It would be nice if they could get some rest, go back to the writing and mix it all up with their magic wands and drumsticks at a production table/studio…maybe release something in 2014. Everyone continues to go bananas over the solo works of both Curt and Roland so maybe there will be a mix of the two…that future forward sound that drove us all mad on TSO and the JunkieXL collab.
From Luandar B. featuring Gregori and fellow Tears For Fears fans ready for the show.
These things (new music) take time so let’s try hard and be patient…a sort of virutal waiting room (sit down, yes, you can). Let’s not poke and tweet the living puke out of them about this subject…a small reminder every now and again that we do want it but bombardment everyday seems…well…uncomfy. We don’t want to upset them. They heard us…they acknowledged it. So give them a year to rest…you know you’re not going anywhere. Every regional fan club will be back to posting info and fun memories, song polls, WISHES FOR MORE MERCH, fan conference plans…and some photos of Curt, Roland and the team’s backsides in no time. So…we can wait…let the band regroup and enjoy the seasons and their relatives.
A Big Muito Obrigada/Thank you Brasil! You proved yourselves loving and beautiful…we appreciate you and adore your sweet nature. So glad you got to see the band again and we pray they come back. We want many years with this band…long past Curt’s eventual move to Tuscany. We are married to their music and in our cultures we are with them in good times and bad, in sickness and health…til G-d bless, death do we part. This is something fans take very seriously. We want them forever and a day and so we’re not going anywhere. We are here to stay. (iA).
We often refer to the concerts as the “Closest Thing to Heaven.” Enjoy this video from Mauricio Pinto F, highlighted by Cristina A from the Brasil Team of that very song.
Special Shout Out to the Arte em Acucar team for making these gorgeous sweets! Olha!
Slyvia Pretes Zarth of Arte em Acucar (The Art of Sugar or Sugar in Art) created some lovely edible gifts for the band.Arte em Acucar even got Curt’s Doc Martins…now you know that’s clever! We are very happy that the band appreciates the fan teams. We received a tweet from Good Man Curt Smith.
