Concert Highlights: Tears for Fears Red Butte Gardens & Idaho Botanical Garden (20 & 22 Sept)

This blog post is dedicated to Molly P.M. who went out in all kinds of weather to be that dedicated fan in Idaho. Many of these are her photos. Thank you Molly!

Heck yes!

The band played despite the rain. From what we and others saw, the stage got a little wet despite it being covered. We were hoping this would not be a repeat of something that happened in Brasil with the wet cords on stage, etc. Tears for Fears did a fine job despite the downpour. Fans took as many pictures and videos as possible. There were some issues. Be sure to like the clips and make a new friend in Travel Fan land with a thank you on their YT page 🙂

Tears For Fears at iHeart Radio Music Festival – SOLD OUT

i3heart

Tears for Fears’ February appearance at an iHeart event was over the top amazing. You can read and watch our recap of the show here on the blog. iHeart put on an outstanding event thanks to all those who performed and it’s about to happen again. If you were one of the fortunate ones to get a ticket for the show taking place next week (24 Sept) but did not get your room, plane, etc sorted out…you are late! Life got in the way? Well read along dear fellow travel fan, we’re happy to help you. Really quick, the short and sweet of it:

Venue Address: 3780 South Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas Nevada 89158

Suggested Hotel: Vdara Hotel and Spa 2600 W Harmon Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89158
This hotel is a 5-star but a reasonable price, well under $220 after taxes as they are doing deals right now and accept road club memberships like AAA. It is in the area of the venue.

Airfare: $500+ on major carriers, you’re going to have to shop around to get a better deal. Remember, do it online, use credit card points, etc. Be creative and find something for $350 roundtrip. This is one of those drop everything and go see TFF events. If you’re going to the TFF Silver Legacy Casino show in Reno the night before then this is going to be amazing otherwise, it might feel pricey. Let us know if you need help with a list of tickets lower than what you’re finding online and we’ll break out plan B.

Line-up for Saturday’s festival

We have several travel fans and locals on the ground for this event. It will most likely be streamed live. You can still win tickets to the event if you’d like to try. More info to come as this gets closer. It will be on our FB page and Twitter account.

Tears For Fears Travel Fan Info | Colorado in October 2016

Tears for Fears will be in Colorado at two different venues. Email one of our travel fan team leaders directly to see if the 8th row seats are still available for the Pikes Peak Center show. As of a few days ago, we had four extra seats. This is rare at this late stage in the game. It’s only happened twice before so if you need to be close to the stage, this might be your best opportunity from reliable individuals who are not going to upcharge you.

redrocks3

Red Rocks AmphitheatreOctober 3rd: This particular venue is a popular one for Tears for Fears fans and is why so many are going. Several first saw the band at this very place. If you remember the history of MTV and how Tears for Fears’ early music was marketed you’ll know why so many saw them in this region. But let’s not get all political. It’s a beautiful place and a special venue. Photos speak volumes.

Tickets: This venue uses axs to sell tickets. They range from $39+ to $85. They also have a great premium seat program which gets you seats in “Reserve 1: seats 1- 25” located near the front of the stage. You can still get what we’re nicknaming sway & jam seats – meaning close enough to enjoy Roland’s sway and Curt’s iconic jam. It’s pretty righteous, no joke. We’ve seen it for many years and every time is just like the first. So do not hesitate to get a good seat for this show if you want to go hard core.

Venue Address: 18300 W. Alameda Parkway, Morrison, CO 80465 | Show starts at 7:30pm. No other opener is noted so it most likely will be Carina? Didn’t see Michael Wainwright mentioning he’d be on tour during the reschedule. He was noted to perform before the reschedule was announced.

Accommodations: We’re suggesting Comfort Suites Golden West as it’s 11 miles from the venue. Look to pay about $175 per night after taxes. Address: 29300 U.S. 40, Evergreen, CO 80439

Pikes Peak Center – 5 October:  Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. Seats in the orchestra section remain starting at $79.50. Venue address: Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts -190 South Cascade Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80903

Accommodations: We suggest The Mining Exchange (Wyndham brand) which is in the area of the venue. You’re looking at about $199 a night after taxes 8 S Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 *There’s also a Howard Johnson in the same area for about $60+

Airfare: Delta has economy tickets at around $450+ at this time of year for this area. Other carriers may have cheaper options. Just check their online deals. Don’t call, phone prices seem to be higher.

ROCS at Capitol Theatre by Lax

Meet and Greets/Fan Fun: Given the number of people that are going including the hard core teams that travel year after year for this band, it is likely that there will be something fun going on. Nothing has been confirmed. But be sure to look out for #RollCall on Twitter and FB the night before in case everyone decides to meet up as a group and have a drink pre or post show.

Tears for Fears Travel Fan Info: Silver Legacy Casino || Reno Nevada show 2016

Crystal

Another show that looks to be sold out. Tears for Fears will be in concert at the Silver Legacy Casino on the 23rd of September. Ticketmaster is not pulling up any extra tickets. If you plan to go to this concert, phone Ticketmaster first and make sure they are really out of tickets before heading to the more expensive third party sites. You can also call 1.888.687.8733 for more info and direct booking according to the site. Please see additional number below in case you can’t get through on the above. We’re making sure you have as many options as possible. Market rate for this concert is $60 – $75 USD. Don’t forget to get the show insurance.

Venue: 407 N Virginia St, Reno, NV 89501 Phone: (775) 329-4777
The concert is to take place at the Silver Legacy Casino’s Grande Exposition Hall. Bands like the Psychedelic Furs (PFurs) are playing there as well.

Accommodations: Stay on site. Make a reservation now if you’re pretty sure you’re going. The rooms are filling up and selling out. Waste no time. This hotel has excellent reviews on various sites including the mother of all review sites, Trip Advisor. We haven’t had a bad hotel stay in Nevada in 6 years so this is an investment worth making. You’re looking at about $315 minimum a night after taxes on the standard rooms. Also note room holds for this area are often $100 a day but it are returned if you don’t have any incidentals or in-room dining (which is  hard to resist because it’s so convenient to eat in the room, don’t do it though. There are more band and fan sightings when foraging for food than can be counted. Hang out, be seen, be visible). Call the hotel to confirm the rates, they may have something better. The King Suites for the date of the show are sold out from what we learned. But, again, call the hotel and make sure because guests cancel all of the time.

Airfare: You’re looking at $500 round trip if you haven’t bought a ticket by now. This is the average for the major carriers. Last year and the year before it was near $1000 for some strange reason so bask in these good deals.

cropped-image9.jpg

Fan Fun and Meet & Greets:
Lots of fans are going to this show. As the date approaches we’ll let you know if there’s a gathering anywhere early for a drink or afterwards…most likely it will be afterwards in the casino bar. *Note that this is close enough to L.A. that the Good Man Curt will probably go home and be with his angels so be mindful and kind to perhaps not pester or expect him to come shake a tail feather/dance around in the lounge after the show. We’re pretty sure he’ll be missing his family by this point and ready to hug his sweet dolls. We respect that.

CLOSE TO SOLD OUT: Tears for Fears at Chateau Ste. Michelle

Chateaustemichlle

If you’re going to see Tears for Fears at Maryhill Winery, you may want to stick around and head over to Chateau Ste. Michelle in Woodinville, Washington. It’s a 3 hour drive so that’s pretty close in our opinion. You can also take advantage of the wine tastings and other cool things going on at this location because the next show isn’t until the 20th. This is the show at which to do a fun meetup.

Time: Show starts at 7:00 pm Gates will open approximately 2 hours before scheduled start. General Admission: $51.50 Reserve Seating: $79.50 Buy Tickets.

Accomodations: This one isn’t not cheap. It’s market rate pricing but it’s close to the venue. It’s called Willow’s Lodge Address: 14580 NE 145th St, Woodinville, WA 98072
Phone:(425) 424-3900 – It’s got a great set of holiday packages so you can relax and enjoy yourself. If you’re going to go this far go all out.

Our second choice: Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Bothell, WA which is about $170 a night after taxes.

Airfare: As mentioned before for this leg of the tour, Delta.com is offering really great rates in the mid to high $300 round trip. Enjoy that!

Meet and Greets: We do not have any travel fan plans for this location though we did at one time. Sadly due to the reschedule of this show, many of our core travel fan team members had to bail. Those tickets were sold to locals from what we understand. This show is also close to sold out on Ticketmaster. Third party tickets are available but make sure you can return them/buy the show insurance as we instructed during the reschedule notice. If anything changes in regards to  hanging out and partying we’ll tweet about it using the hashtag #RollCall.

“The guys were charming and friendly on stage and the fans were brilliant. It was a really good turnout. The crowd loved them. It was all just so good. I’ll never forget it.” – Kath

“What a fab night! The band were great and they both have brilliant voices and Carina sounds fantastic.” -Angela

Dear Tears for Fears UK, you f*cking ROCK!!!! OMG!!! You really went above and beyond! What an incredible amount of team work! Big high fives to Angie and Kath who were positioned two rows from the stage gate on Roland and Carina’s side. These darling soldiers of sound from Bath are some of the original TFF Fans from day one! They captured video and photos promptly, helping us stay right on track in our passion to archive some of the bands best moments in performance as well as chit chat and fun extras that the guys and lady Carina provide.

Arrested Development and Tears for Fears Reunited Again In Spirit at Camp Bestival

*note from moderator Andye
26 August 2010, a day that is still celebrated, AD and TFF shared a stage in Atlanta. That’s very significant because both were the first musicians featured on media and music assignments in my media/music career. It was backstage on student news sets that I happily researched TFF’s contributions to the industry. The band that had been playing on radios and televisions all around me since childhood was now a part of my education and work. AD, being one of best politically conscious bands on the scene at the time (I was merely 11 years old working as a volunteer in student news) was an instrumental tool in my early dedication to news and music. So seeing them on the Camp Bestival ticket (alongside Tears for Fears again) excited me beyond belief. @ADtheBand is also quite popular in the UK.

AD the Band1

I coincidentally live in their same city and chat about politics and conscious fashion with their female vocalist, Ms Tasha LaRae, from time to time. During a follow up convo on the line-up, I learned that they would not be at Camp Bestival due to someone in the band not feeling well (we are certainly sympathetic because we know what it’s like when our bands/band’s family fall ill). 😦 Their absence didn’t stop loyal fans from buying Arrested Development’s album anyway. Upon learning this, our ambassadors sent over a few words of encouragement and healing. I will send the note to AD this week. Hopefully, next time we’ll have our AD/TFF supernova style amazement in 3D at a future show. -Andye

Kath and Angie’s Tears for Fears Travel Fan Team Experience
K & A reached out early on when the UK shows were announced. They wanted to make sure everyone travelling to Dorset would be in good hands. They quickly let us know they’d be there to get the video and photos. K &A made good on their promise and have for every single thing we’ve ever done. They were the ones behind the Longacre Hall project and so many other amazing group efforts. We’re thrilled to have them leading as ambassadors of this great legion of TFF soldiers of sound. Below are pictures from their golden music stash. Enjoy the videos and photos.

Huge thanks to all the fans that contributed over the weekend! Seeing everyone near and far make sure that those who wanted tickets had them was overwhelming and demonstrated outstanding team spirit. One person in L.A. was offering up a premium seat to the Newmarket show and others were clamouring over themselves to get to Camp Bestival as they ditched their previously scheduled plans at the last minute, dropping everything to be there and support the band. The crowd was enormous and electric. It was clear that they knew the songs and all the pomp and circumstance that goes with “Break It Down Again (BIDA).” To say it was a great show is a gross understatement…it was  historic! Music reviews, music news sites and the like are all noting how amazing it was and how absolutely crystal clear their voices were. It was a solid and tight show, the entire band went above and beyond their best!

Travel Fans hanging out at the Tulsa show 2015 (Loved the signs in the background, for those that know Curt, he approved).

Just want to take a minute to recognise contributors to this tour season. So many people went out of their way to make sure they took care of each other and fellow fans. We have new Travel Fan team members from Australia and the Midwest as well.

Callum B down under has been instrumental in making sure we announce upcoming shows with lightening speed. Some of the shows Callum has put on our calendar weren’t even confirmed by the band yet, this is how fast Callum works. We are grateful to this travel fan team member who is looking out for all of us, making sure we get tickets purchased and distributed in a timely manner. Kudos to you. Welcome to the fan family.

Jamie M is another person who went out of the way to get tickets for friends. There’s something to be said when you take on the role of ticket purchaser. The excruciating stress of trying to get to the box office or sit by the computer and phone to be first in line is just…it’s a JOB! Thank you Jamie for taking good care of your friends.

Tears for Fears loyalists and travel fans ready for ROCS! #ItsMagic

As always our fellow dedicated fans in the Midwest USA went above and beyond securing rooms, getting hotels together and of course tickets. We’ll chat about that more in the future but Kudos to those people, they know who they are. Wishing them safe travels as they go about in the treacherous weather. Blessings tenfold for their constant alerts and coordination to make sure the travel fans from coast to coast get to shows and have more than decent seats. This year took the cake when it comes to kindness.

Our goal is to collaborate and enjoy each other’s company in the presence of the band – be that in the audience or elsewhere. We claim no special place, just a true desire for teamwork and so far these past 6 years of ELAHE focused tours with TFF classics in tow have been remarkable and extraordinary. We have had some of the best days of our lives while following this band and we pray it continues. We pay no attention to divisive efforts. Everyone in the group has worked so hard to put together something not only to share but something wonderful of which to be proud.

Jaynie and Lady K
Lady K and Lady J! Thank you for your TFF Travel Fan contributions! #2014

Our goal is not to “outshine” or “outfan” anyone but to make sure that every single person who loves Tears for Fears as much as we do gets to sit together in the best seats we can possibly find and split the expenses of roaming the land alongside the band. We don’t entertain rumours, anxiety and assumptions made about our efforts. We don’t support divisiveness or loving one band member over another. Actions such as these are poisonous and signs of immaturity. Attitudes like that and those with personal agendas and desires to execute disrespectful acts are not healthy in the fan world…they are a liability.

image
Fun with #TFFRoadCrew Bill. He’s a nice guy! Hilarious even!

Our hope this year is that every single fan that truly desires to see this band LIVE will have a great seat and meet lots of new like-minded people who wish to see the success of the band and their new album. If you need tickets, have questions about certain shows, feel free to reach out to us. Though we can’t all go to the same shows at the same time, at least one of us is going to be at the show you are inquiring about as that’s how it has been for the last decade/since the 2004/2005 tour and those that followed since 2009. Consider us a resource and a friend, not competition.

Curt and Yara
Good Man Curt Smith and Yara N. ( and Charlton’s profile) 🙂 #2012

Big Shout out to these great fans with whom we’ve shared amazing memories through travelling, attending shows or doing tributes:
Sheila (Shee Shee), Deb, Carri D, Alex W., Todd S., Colleen, Janie, Jeanie P., Kai G., Katie, Jen, Melanie, Angie, Kath, Pennie, The Hong Kong Team, Bobby R, Carolyn H, Alisa, Rise, Penelope, Kim T, C.H., Rosalie, Amur, Joyce, Jan, Pam (Snap Happy Pam) Lax P, Roland R, Richard G., Jason D., Andrew S., Sacha G., Lael T, Eileen I., Bob R., Ruby M., Magno Family (all 5), Cindy R, Tara H., Charlotte M, Aya, Kim C. Yara N., Keisha, Nicole, Mr. Bill of the Northeast, Patricia O, Robyn, Heidi, Marcio C., James, Willow, The Villains Band, Naima, Kevin L, Nathaniel G, Doug F, Sapphire, Atlanta Pinoy Association, Christiane, Mary, Susan, Melissa, Becky, KLF B., Reggie, Brian W, Melih, Amalia, Bella , Behrouz and Traci S in Arizona.

There are so many more who travel from show to show. Your work, efforts and support are valid and they are seen and appreciated by fellow fans. Many hugs to you!

Concert Alert: Tears for Fears at Promo West (Ohio)

tff-tshirt
Wear it with pride! TFF Swag

Tears for Fears are listed to play Promo West summer 2016. This concert takes place in Columbus Ohio. This is separate from the Bunbury festival to take place in June. Promo West is a new festival with scheduled show dates of 15 – 17 July. The festival promises to be a big deal as the CEO of the company has a lot of experience with live music venues. The venue can hold around 60K people.

It is not clear nor confirmed exactly what day that Tears for Fears will perform but the festival has listed them in the line up which includes some of the people that were on the line up for other festivals at which they have been featured (i.e. Modest Mouse). While we usually wait for the band to announce these things, we do not want fans to miss out on ticket sales. They are on sale right now ranging from $169.00 to $389.00. Click here to buy. Note that VIP is available.

Suggested Accommodations:
A) The Westin Columbus – 310 S High St, Columbus, OH 43215 (rates start around $100 per night not including taxes, etc.)

B) Hyatt Regency 350 N High St, Columbus, OH 43215 (rates start around $109 and is our preferred hotel)

Flights: Delta has amazing deals to this area in their weekly note. Register with this airline to get the weekly deal notification. Consider flying Delta as they have plenty of seat options and have been relatively stress free minus a few gate changes and confusions that were cleared up pretty fast. Follow @DeltaAssist on Twitter and download the app for the best service. Can’t stress that enough…

No other info is available at this time (i.e. meet and greets, fan fun). Not even sure we should be releasing this unconfirmed info. The concert was announced in the early hours of the morning and relayed via travel fans in Australia. The band will confirm when they get good and ready to do so. Many thanks to C. Binyon for making sure all were aware of this update.

*pardon any typos and run-ons, we’re in a rush today…
**Bunbury Festival travel info coming up, we always attempt to put a plan together before posting (i.e. fan activities, fun stuff). Still awaiting info on who is going for sure.

Tears for Fears: Newmarket Racecourses 29 July

Most of you who are going to this show have your tickets already. Several more have confirmed they are going as well. So here are some extra details/a follow up from an earlier tweet we made about this show. This concert is to take place just shy of the Camp Bestival concert. While CB will offer a festive fun family atmosphere where it’s okay to get a little dirty, Newmarket Racecourses’ event is bursting with elegance…dress code and all. There are a ton of show packages much like CB. They boast individual and multiple ticket offerings such as:

-The Boys Party Package: Admission, Tote Voucher, Food & Drink voucher and 1 racecard
-The Girls Party Package: This one includes a bottle of champagne
-Newmarket Dining Packages: Each includes very nice dining
-Earlybird style packages: Offers tote voucher and more
*Keep in mind one of our dear fellow travel fans has a premium seat available that you can buy directly from her. She’s reliable and picky about her seats so this is a good deal. Let us know if you want it. We’ll get you in contact with her immediately.

NMRC
Official Flyer for the Newmarket Nights featuring Tears for Fears

Dress Code:
Treat it like an upscale wedding. No tennis shoes, athletic team jerseys or skimpy stuff. Seriously, this is a formal event and should be respected as such. So, invest in a nice pair of shoes, a really great shirt and snazzy trousers. Those from the Loli/JFashion community going to the show, you need not worry at all. Just open your outstanding Victorian closet and style away. You’ll be the talk of the show. If you need more info on what is expected, just send us a note and we’ll send you pictures. This is an incredible opportunity to have a lot of fun with fashion. *Note that fancy dress is not allowed within the Premiere Enclosure. Call and ask about that… in fact, if you’re worried about your appearance as it relates to your seating dial 01638 675500 (option 4) to get the official coordinate/clothing rundown.

Logistics:
Again, we suggest British Airways as the preferred air carrier. Virgin Air is our second suggestion as well as Korean Air if you can get a flight from your area. No, it’s not the cheapest option from the states but this is a long flight so you might as well fly in style with comfortable amenities.

Ground Transportation: Get a taxi from the airport. Download the local apps (e.g. gett.com) and schedule it so you’re not hanging around trying to figure out what to do.

Hotels: Stay on site (unless the Orzabal Family is having a slumber party 🙂 #ThatllBeTheDay #AndIfYouBelieveThat)
-The Jockey Club Rooms: jockeyclubrooms.co.uk (call for pricing)
-Bedford Lodge Hotel: bedfordlodgehotelmobile.co.uk (mobile friendly link)
*prices for BLH range from $400 USD to $600 USD per night or so depending on the type of room you get. It’s worth it given the amenities and proximity to the venue. It’s like staying at an English resort. If you’re going to Camp Bestival, you might want to find a room partner to decrease the cost of the “Newmarket Show stay.” USD only goes so far in the UK and prices can escalate into the thousands pretty quick if you’re not sharing travel.

TFF On Stage
Seeing TFF Live is an Experience

Getting to the Venue:
You can pre-order your ground transportation package. Note that on the concert night a train will pick everyone up at 4:15pm local time and return you 30 mins after the concert ends. Now…before you consider that, think of what you plan to do before and after the show. A lot of times fans (and sometimes the band) end up seeing each other before the show. As we know from photos and personal experience, you never know what opportunities will come about. Even if nothing is scheduled you want to be “available” for surprises so we suggest you arrange a car service or taxi from the venue to and from your hotel. The meeting point for your taxi is just outside Premier Entrance 1 when they pick you up after the show. Order your taxi in advance. Here are a few suggestions:

-Newmarket Taxi: 01638 596465
-First Choice Cars: 01638 718686
-Crystal Cars: 01638 602 602

Food: You will not starve. There’s plenty of food at the hotel plus tons at the venue. Remember the show packages through the venue will have lots of food options. Again, another awesome opportunity to have some really rich, flavourful fare. #EnglishFoodies

Meetups and Meet & Greets: We’re still gathering info on who is going to be there. If we have enough people to do a nice group photo in cool race day hats then it shall be. *We WILL NOT ask Roland or Curt (or Jamie, Charlton and other band members and road crew) to let us hang out pre or post show. All band interactions remain at their discretion. Sorry. We know some of you are travelling a very long way and spent a ton of money to make this happen but we do not manage meetings without unprompted permission from the rock royals themselves.

If you have any questions we’re available around the clock. Find us on Twitter, Google+, Facebook or leave a message for us via the blog.

*Info on Bunbury, the 3 day music festival in Ohio, is coming up…
