Each show will be linked to its city noted here once the North American tour concludes.

As a team of  dedicated fans who travel to follow the band, we’ve been gathering and celebrating Tears for Fears for over 2 decades. In the last 7 years (started archiving our travel in 2010), we’ve made a lot of efforts to be inclusive and keep our fellow fans in the know. Some of our fun includes where to meet up for photos, notifications on the band’s prompts to hang out and spend a few minutes with fellow fans and more. Many of us are back on the road again for #Tour2017. Below is an updated list of the full 2017 Tears for Fears concert schedule (global) and those who have checked-in to say where they’ll be during the tour. Cheers-cheers!

Dedicated to Valerie who will be in Arizona and to Katie who cashed out her 401K (not uncommon) to see the band this year. We wish everyone safe travels and a great time!

Air Travel: We suggest Delta or Southwest – please be sure to join their frequent flyer club programs. There is no extra charge and the perks are worth it. In 2014, we were able to use points each time we wanted to see the band. You can earn enough points for free tickets, free hotel stays and more.

365 Days of Magno – Tears for Fears Fans In Music

michael-magno

Many of our fellow Tears for Fears Travel Fan team members know of Michael Roland Magno because we mention his amazing work and those with which he has collaborated over the years. He and his band opened for America back in 2008. The band in which he is the lead singer has toured with Little Feat. He is always in demand in Atlanta and…loves Tears for Fears!

Michael Magno, or “Magno” to his adoring fans and family, is certainly one of the people we hope the band will collaborate with in the near future. He is always asked and recommended by top musicians as one of the best openers for events. The music and musicians he has in his circle are strong, powerful and talented young men and women. Everything he does is top quality!

The motto of the Tears for Fears travel fans is 365 Days a Year of Tears for Fears. That means there’s not a day that goes by that we are not discussing, thinking about or doing something related to TFF. Magno recently took on a challenge, 365 songs for 2017. Day 6 of the year, Michael featured EWTRTW, the very song several of our travel fan team saw him sing in 2008 upon first meeting this great musician. We think he did a great job and we appreciate him highlighting the band in his show of appreciation of great musicians this year. Hopefully we’ll see him on tour in the future with Tears for Fears. That’s our wish!

mm

Check out more of the awesome and super kind, easy-going, ultra talented and award-winning, MAGNO with these links below. Care to follow? Tell him the Tears for Fears Travel fan team sent ya! He follows back! p.s. He’s Filipino-American, fits right in with us yeah? #PhilsKooks rejoice. He’s one of us!

Tears for Fears Concert Reminder: British Summer Time Hyde Park

killers1000so-bb632ebf29

Yep! They sold out. We saw that coming. But, there’s always a miracle and a silver lining when it comes to anything related to Tears for Fears. The group Event Travel has a number of packages from which to pick that will help you achieve the experience for which you are looking.

We’re going to skip our normal list of accommodations and go strictly with theirs. Why? Because you’re gonna need it. When going abroad for concerts it’s best to find package holidays and deals so that you are not overspending and you get something that is all inclusive. If you seriously do not want to do these packages, contact @papasfans and we’ll email you personally with suggestions, ground transportation and other info in case you’ve already booked your ticket and don’t need any of the below.

If not, click here and get your money’s worth!

HUGE THANKS to THE KILLERS’ media team for being so on top of everything and getting information out! Much appreciated!

Feelin’ it in Phoenix! || Tears for Fears’ Amazing Show in Arizona #TFF2016

This is dedicated to the awesome Valerie M, music queen of the night Melissa D and her husband plus lucky Lael who met up in Arizona for an outstanding show!

“Tears For Fears is just what the doctor ordered. Honestly, it is about living in the present. Letting go, being one’s authentic self and finding kindred spirits in people that are mirrors of ourselves, makes one keenly aware there is a power larger than all of us, and that our whole is larger than the sum of our parts, no matter were we go in this world…” – Lael

valerie-m
Valerie M is awesome, danced the entire time!

Like real Kooks and soldiers of sound, she and Lael had dinner at 5 Guys. Curt thought that was cool.

Our man Lax was there too! This is one of 2 shows he attended this year.

Valerie has some really cool stuff. Check out her experience. She notes that some of the video is very bouncy because she was dancing around. We wouldn’t have it any other way! Gotta dance! Let the band know you adore them. “Curt is a combo of the guy next door and rock star. Cool watching Roland play guitar up close. Excuse my giddy schoolgirl giggle when he looks at me…” -Valerie M.

Another Dream Come True || TFF in Colorado Springs 2016

For many, the Tears for Fears tours are a ceremonial pilgrimage, a getaway to another state of mind. Anything that ails you is swept away as soon as the opening music leading them to the stage begins to play. We’ve spoken about that feeling before and it’s simply majestic. Few things compare to these tours. It’s a different kind of excitement, a mysterious energy that just coats a crowd…and, as we’ve noted for years, it’s addictive. Enter the Kerfuffle of Kooks, the travel fans, the hard core peeps that can’t stay away, it’s a craving that must be satisfied. They prove again and again that this band is not only relevant but vital to the industry. What Roland, Curt and team bring to the musical table is very unique and impossible to forget.

More of ROCS here: https://www.periscope.tv/QtCDior28/1YqJDDZgDDaJV?t=4
*Periscope videos last about 24 hours unless the user archives it. CD/SK is very good about archiving her experience on YT so you can follow videos there. Please be sure to like and comment on her channel. Many thanks!

Of the many bands that stirred up euphoric emotion in the 70s, 80s and 90s, The Fixx has its place among them as does the continued music of David Bowie. Both are  heard before most shows which results in a myriad of “ohmmigaaahd, I love this song” and “Yess!! Bowie, YEESSS!!” from the crowd. That, too, is an experience and warming to see. The band or somebody in the crew has had this mix of music since 2010 and it’s like…the best music mix ever with these amazing timeless pieces of gold. Tears for Fears, The Fixx, and David Bowie are to rock what Beethoven is to classical music. Their work is etched in industry stone as unmatched. So, this share from “solohour” was a treat! Hear the music in the background…mmmmm. That tingling feeling of joy just sweeps over us.

The Fixx Stand or Fall…a fantastic fixture pre-show

Ahhh VIP, a little slice of heaven. This was brought to our attention. Yes, this is what some of the passes look like but they of course usually change from show to show and for good reason. We’re well aware that this is a special option that doesn’t happen for everyone.  As seen on photos floating around the internet, yes, we’ve been “back there.” What goes on back there? Well, sometimes there’s a lot of people. At times we saw  a lot of the crew. Other times it was just us and the band because we had a meeting. Each time, you can find people chatting and talking about music. People were very friendly (lots of familiar faces). There are cool people taking photos and it’s a very kind and informal environment. ROCS usually change clothes and they both look like a million dollars from head to toe all over again. It’s a very warm and peaceful experience with angelic excitement if that makes any sense. We hope that one day a fan conference will be in place so that many of the newer hard core travellers (as well as the loyal returners pre-ELAHE) will be able to have a moment to shake the guys’ hands. We know that is important and many have messages they want to say in person. It’ll have to be done strategically. We don’t want to overwhelm anyone and disturb their peaceful aura.

https://instagram.com/p/BLNGGTbAbn_/

Here are video shares from the night, again please make sure you like the clips and make a new friend. Nothing compares to online friendships that eventually come to life at shows. All of us met online prior to travelling together. Huge thanks to the TFF Travel Fan Team for always going the extra mile. Whether you know it or not, it is noticed and it is appreciated. Enjoy!

Tears for Fears Travel Fan Info || Phoenix Arizona Show 7 October

CapitoalTheatre5
Carina, Roland, Curt, Charlton and Doug by Lax

Tears for Fears will be in concert at the Comerica Theatre on the 7th of October. This show is located in Phoenix, Arizona. There are some amazing seats still available for this concert including 2nd row Pit area and section 4 center stage. Buy tickets through Live Nation to see all the great options.

As for VIP, the theatre has the option to request info about it. It’s not clear if you can get it for this particular show but it doesn’t hurt to ask. To get that info sent to your email click here and fill out the form if you didn’t already when the show was first announced. If you are doing will-call, you’ll need your photo ID and the credit card with which the tickets were purchased. Their Will Call Box Office is in the front of the building on the corner of 4th and Washington. If someone else bought your tickets and they are left for you to pick up, your name should be on the account and the person who bought them can call and let Ticketmaster know this in order to prevent any ticket withholding. Also, this is one of those venues where everyone needs a ticket, including any small children and babies.

comerica1
Comerica Theatre (from site)

Venue: Address: 400 West Washington St. Phoenix AZ 85003 (phone: 602.379.2800) This theatre is gorgeous! It has some really cool nooks and crannies that are glammed out for comfort. There is a great deal of space between the first row of seats and the stage. It’s not really clear how the pit area will be/if there will be seats placed there in front or if this is standing, looks like there will be seats. The entire place has a well-thought out design and has a cool backstage area, it’s just awesome. So if you’re not headed to every TFF concert on the reschedule and are just looking for that special one show to go to, this is the one.

You can also take pictures but of course no recordings or video cameras. These are the theatre rules, not the band’s. Travel fans know this but if you’re new to the TFF shows, be mindful that the flash should be off, especially if any band member leans down near you. Yes, plain common sense but when you get caught up in the excitement strange things happen to the mind.

Accommodations: This was kind of hard to decide. We suggest the Hilton Phoenix Suites. You’re looking at $250 after tax per night. The other options swing from as low as $119 to well into the hundreds per night. This was the median range and had the better reviews. Also we carry memberships at this one so we only want to suggest ones where we’ve either previously stayed or know the chain/their customer service team very well. This particular Hilton has many amenities and isn’t very far from the venue.

Airfare: Again, this part of the country gets pretty steep if you don’t book well in advance. Still looking at around $400+ roundtrip on major carriers to the southwestern most states. Keep trying online for deals especially if you’re doing the whole fly in and fly out. If not you’re looking at a $1,500 1-2 day music holiday. It’s worth it but still. Southwest may have some better deals.

Shipmates and their Captain. || Becky Boom Boom, SK & Captain Orzabal

Fan Fun: Several travel fans are attending and lots of new people too. This is a great opportunity to get together the day before the show. Hoping for some group pictures on this one.

Tears For Fears at iHeart Radio Music Festival – SOLD OUT

i3heart

Tears for Fears’ February appearance at an iHeart event was over the top amazing. You can read and watch our recap of the show here on the blog. iHeart put on an outstanding event thanks to all those who performed and it’s about to happen again. If you were one of the fortunate ones to get a ticket for the show taking place next week (24 Sept) but did not get your room, plane, etc sorted out…you are late! Life got in the way? Well read along dear fellow travel fan, we’re happy to help you. Really quick, the short and sweet of it:

Venue Address: 3780 South Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas Nevada 89158

Suggested Hotel: Vdara Hotel and Spa 2600 W Harmon Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89158
This hotel is a 5-star but a reasonable price, well under $220 after taxes as they are doing deals right now and accept road club memberships like AAA. It is in the area of the venue.

Airfare: $500+ on major carriers, you’re going to have to shop around to get a better deal. Remember, do it online, use credit card points, etc. Be creative and find something for $350 roundtrip. This is one of those drop everything and go see TFF events. If you’re going to the TFF Silver Legacy Casino show in Reno the night before then this is going to be amazing otherwise, it might feel pricey. Let us know if you need help with a list of tickets lower than what you’re finding online and we’ll break out plan B.

Line-up for Saturday’s festival

We have several travel fans and locals on the ground for this event. It will most likely be streamed live. You can still win tickets to the event if you’d like to try. More info to come as this gets closer. It will be on our FB page and Twitter account.

Tears For Fears Travel Fan Info | Colorado in October 2016

Tears for Fears will be in Colorado at two different venues. Email one of our travel fan team leaders directly to see if the 8th row seats are still available for the Pikes Peak Center show. As of a few days ago, we had four extra seats. This is rare at this late stage in the game. It’s only happened twice before so if you need to be close to the stage, this might be your best opportunity from reliable individuals who are not going to upcharge you.

redrocks3

Red Rocks AmphitheatreOctober 3rd: This particular venue is a popular one for Tears for Fears fans and is why so many are going. Several first saw the band at this very place. If you remember the history of MTV and how Tears for Fears’ early music was marketed you’ll know why so many saw them in this region. But let’s not get all political. It’s a beautiful place and a special venue. Photos speak volumes.

Tickets: This venue uses axs to sell tickets. They range from $39+ to $85. They also have a great premium seat program which gets you seats in “Reserve 1: seats 1- 25” located near the front of the stage. You can still get what we’re nicknaming sway & jam seats – meaning close enough to enjoy Roland’s sway and Curt’s iconic jam. It’s pretty righteous, no joke. We’ve seen it for many years and every time is just like the first. So do not hesitate to get a good seat for this show if you want to go hard core.

Venue Address: 18300 W. Alameda Parkway, Morrison, CO 80465 | Show starts at 7:30pm. No other opener is noted so it most likely will be Carina? Didn’t see Michael Wainwright mentioning he’d be on tour during the reschedule. He was noted to perform before the reschedule was announced.

Accommodations: We’re suggesting Comfort Suites Golden West as it’s 11 miles from the venue. Look to pay about $175 per night after taxes. Address: 29300 U.S. 40, Evergreen, CO 80439

TFF Bright Lights
Courtesy dear fan Bob Ramos

Pikes Peak Center – 5 October:  Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. Seats in the orchestra section remain starting at $79.50. Venue address: Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts -190 South Cascade Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80903

Accommodations: We suggest The Mining Exchange (Wyndham brand) which is in the area of the venue. You’re looking at about $199 a night after taxes 8 S Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 *There’s also a Howard Johnson in the same area for about $60+

Airfare: Delta has economy tickets at around $450+ at this time of year for this area. Other carriers may have cheaper options. Just check their online deals. Don’t call, phone prices seem to be higher.

ROCS1CT
ROCS at Capitol Theatre by Lax

Meet and Greets/Fan Fun: Given the number of people that are going including the hard core teams that travel year after year for this band, it is likely that there will be something fun going on. Nothing has been confirmed. But be sure to look out for #RollCall on Twitter and FB the night before in case everyone decides to meet up as a group and have a drink pre or post show.

Don’t give it away just yet.” After checking into the hotel, Deb sends another text stating that she’s turned that car around and is going to be able to make it to the show! Her third one of this leg of the TFF Tour. Haha! Now that’s a travel fan! We cheered as she came upstairs. The gang was all there. Time for more Tears for Fears Travel Fan fun (or pure majestic music madness)!

By 6:30pm we were driving around looking for parking and were fortunate to find a spot outside some really cool shoppes two blocks from the Count Basie Theater. The night prior I remember being rather calm (which is not my norm). Tonight I was back to my usual Tears for Fears pre-show jitters and they were in full force. Again, I couldn’t walk, I was pausing a lot on the side walk and could barely stand up straight. The butterflies were hardcore having it out inside my soul. I managed to crawl to the venue where we were met by a slew of fellow travel fans who were detailing all of the things that had happened to us, they had been following along via social media (Twitter, FB, Periscope).

Listening to Stand or Fall in the Hall…
We wasted no time and went right into hugs and photos. Then we all floated into that majestic venue as Stand or Fall began to play. We were decked out in our concert clothes, dancing around; me in a tiara to represent the fact this band is Rock Royalty and Carolyn in her Roland T-shirt and tattoo. I sat in the center, four rows from the stage and much closer to it. Lax from San Fran was right beside me. I have to tell you, Lax is an uber-dedicated fan who cares not just about other travellers but about the comfort of the band. Just listening to him speak gave me chills as his care and concern for their well-being took precedence over asking for a meet and greet and other things that I’ve come to learn are the first things people ask about during meetups. He’s met them before and will see them again. Lax’ first priority was hoping that TFF were well rested and feeling good for the show. Kudos to you Lax! You are too cool!

Just like the night prior, Carina comes out and does her cool song set. This time she added a different tune that was a bit edgier. I think it was a suggestion by Bill of the TFF crew. Then the band came out and did what they do best, this time to a very eager and excited crowd. When Falling Down began to play, my hands shook a little because I was afraid people would sit down as they had the night before in Morristown…but they didn’t. The majority stayed on their feet, swayed and sang along.
Here’s what was on the list…

Mega Marvelous Moments Admist Amazing Music
Again, the entire show was much more energetic audience-wise than that of Morristown NJ. And of course, the band is ALWAYS animated and fun. They are great showmen and women. They’ve got this! But the energy was powered by a much more diverse group of people…slews of fans from New York. The crowd included notable folks like one of the leaders of Brown Girls Burlesque, an entertainment producer from the D.C. area and financial grinders from Wall Street. All were totally ELECTRIC! The people in the three rows ahead of me/on the front row were jumping around, women on the second row were dancing like crazy (as seen in many videos) and people were genuinely courteous to each other…even those who asked if I would give them my seat. They didn’t get upset with me when I refused…they later understood.

Video Moment – Change

There was a very tiny blooper where Roland seemed to forget a verse of ELAHE. And it was actually quite awesome. Here’s why…that’s one of many songs with complicated lines I’ve memorised to the very end. So… myself and others who knew it kept right on singing …LOUD. I could hear myself over the few seconds of silence. I quickly piped down but it was too late. Some people turned around and looked at me as if they were trying to figure out the rest of the song. Some people were sitting at this point so I was this lone person in the center of this venue (here we go again). I could feel Roland’s spotlight hitting my back making a shadow on the seats in front of me because I was directly in front of him four rows back. “It’s okay!” I yelled and started hand gesturing the rest of the lyrics. Roland hopped right back into the verse like a pro and we all sang along. It was so much fun. I almost wish he’d pause on purpose and let the audience fill in just for kicks…but anyway…

Bobby cut the song off just before the blooper happened…and that’s perhaps for the best…

It’ll be a moment only G-d and I will remember. I’m sure the Good Sir has washed it from his memory and rightly so, it wasn’t that big of a deal but darn that was fun for those of us who love that song. I enjoyed acting out the words  as ridiculous as I may have looked in that Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter coordinate and tiara. That spotlight was so bright it was impossible to avoid being a spectacle standing there animated, wiggling around to the beat but hey…You only live once… YO-EFFIN-LO.

TFF Bright Lights

Another outstanding moment was Curt wearing a very special Ben Sherman shirt and walking over to Silver Kitty so she could see he was wearing her gift. I about died…I was so happy. I’ve yet to have seen that on any of the videos, so again, that’s between us and G-d Almighty.

But two things did get on camera thanks to Mr. Ramos and SK, The Good Man came over just after Head Over Heels and gave Travel Fan, Queen of Kooks, Silver K the coolest of hugs! If any other hugs occurred on the planet that night, they didn’t compare to the one she got. It was so sweet and so caring. Boy did that soothe my soul. We as fans love Curt and his family. G-d bless them. Very sweet Smith Family Rockers…a gentle family with big hearts.

In case that’s not clear, we’ll play it for you…
Let me not forget another  moment of joy and glory when The Good Sir let me sing again with Lady Cams on Shout… 😉 that’s like the second time (first time was 2011) and I swear when I die I will have that put on my tombstone, “Sir Roland Orzabal let me sing…twice.”

*Thanks SK for prompting me to come stand with you. Thanks to the people next to you who ushered me right on in.

Sowing the Seeds …For Real

So…the show ends, the lights go up and suddenly all these shiny (drenched) happy people turn around and look at their fellow concert goers that they’ve been dancing and singing next to all evening. “I’ve got pictures of you, let me send them to you,” one began. Then others chimed in showing each other their pictures and immediately texting these perfect strangers all of their photos.

One person in particular was Bob Ramos, a music guru with a long history in music education…yeah, he was there too! Isn’t that the coolest?! “I’ve got pictures of you, and you…and you, too!” he said as he pointed to each person near the stage. We exchanged email addresses and chatted for a few minutes (very briefly because security was trying to clear that place out). But then something odd happened…people started hugging…and kissing…and smooching each other goodbye. People that had never even met before…even I was gently kissed by strangers a few times and not a pop kiss on the cheek either, a full on frontal smack on the lips. In our not so tidy states of joy THAT happened…and you know what ::whispering:: I liked it! #TFFUtopia

I remember turning back around to one of the rather skilled darlings (he clearly had a PhD from the University of Pucker-Up and shall remain nameless) to give him a compliment on his kindness. I dropped a loving line and walked away for fear I might be so bold and ask for another. For shame, indeed. That’s perhaps an overshare. But we’re all friends now. It was all in the name of love. Still rarely a dull moment in this crew, eh? Speaking of moments, did I mention Kris slid Roland some chocolate in the middle of the show! LOL! He leaned right over and loved it! #ChocolateTennisRacket for the win! So cute!!

Drummer Genius Jamie Wollam was very generous with  drum sticks this tour. He not only gave out the pair he played with that night but also brand new ones to various people. He threw a drum stick toward Bobby (who already had a pair from the Tulsa Oklahoma show) and Bobby caught it…and gave it to a sweet man who happened to be in a wheelchair in front of him. Made that man’s night! Huge thanks to Jamie for being so accommodating to many of the dears and giving encouraging and kind words throughout their time with the band.

We finally left the concert area, well some of us anyway… Bobby went backstage and had a long chat with Roland about music, song meanings and other stuff. Several Travel Fans hung out near Carina, our man Mr. Ramos got some drum sticks and a set list signed…and as he put it, had his “expectations met like a MOFO.”Bob and Lax

We had entirely too much fun not only with the band but with fellow fans. We played and chatted like kids and teens with new and old fan family as they came out from backstage. Curt had to jet but when I checked my phone I found he had left me a really nice note. I cherish things like that. He didn’t have to say anything at all but he did…he did a lot of things. Gestures are everything. To finish up our outstanding evening we went over to the best, authentic Mexican Restaurant on the planet before heading back to the hotel. It’s called North of the Border and it’s not far from the train. Go eat there! It’s incredible!

!!!IT WAS SUCH AN AWESOME NIGHT!!! Sadly words and these descriptions can’t really sum up the event. It was one of those, “you had to be there” occasions. There are so many people to thank including the Angels of Mercy that got us there. What more can we say? Muchisimas Gracias, Dalu, Salamat, Merci and THANK YOU!
